all the haunting tones and sounds start to become whispers, and he can't properly discern if he's actually understanding or just starved for the sound of another voice

Stratt's voice over the radio starts to sound like music. He doesn't remember Carl's voice anymore, even as the man sneaks a few last words to him.

he can't remember his brother's voice- how did he sound? like him, right?

he pleads, yells, even sings something to himself, anything to find his voice again

it all sounds hollow in comparison to the music flooding in from outside the sub

It just starts out as muffled sounds he cant understand until further into the story. Where the music is almost mimicking voices Ryland had heard before.

Soon becoming hallucinations from the deprivation of food, water, and oxygen. Seeing his brother with him and the voices of Stratt from the speaker, although none of it is real. Causing severe breakdowns and outbursts because he just wants to live. Why wasn't wrong for a coward to live?

Hello a third time!!! I was just thinking about the blood moon in your Swap!Au and I gotta ask, since Swap!rocky is most likely actually making sound out loud (rather then OG!ellie’s telepathy) would his “voice” be “warped” or “echoing” in the blood? Like how sounds will be different in water?

It would be very warped and slightly muffled. But the music notes and vibrations are enough to hear Rocky speak outside, even combining notes to fit voices to trick Ry (like how Ellie tricked Simon)
