It also feels terrible to not be believed
as a hypochondriac I tend to base my sense of danger on other peopleâs reactions of me telling them what is happening. So when I had what would bow be described as a tic attack, I was telling everyone around me. Very few seemed to care that my head was jerking to the side every second, and seemed to even get irritated that I kept bringing it up (to make sure I was assessing my situation correctly and not over or under reacting)
Guess who has a tic disorder now? Me. I also learned that many of my friends and family members simply thought I was faking it, and when I tried to bring up how much it upset me; I was told that it was natural that they didnât believe me and that I shouldnât be upset. Only when my mother was at the brink of tears at my current state was I properly able to see the gravity of the situation.
I have been accused of faking online and it infuriates me that people without my specific disability are acting like they know so much more than me on the condition that I have. On how some people ask other people whatâs wrong with me, as if I couldnât answer them myself.
