It's crazy how feelings are connected, I haven't really dealt with anxiety for a while, but my current medication is amplifying it as a side effect.

And it really amplifies other feelings,

Such as

Isolation and loneliness,

Executive dysfunction dread,

Existential dread

Societal Dread,

I know objectively the world has some good in it but it's hard to feel it rn, it feels like humans have a predisposition to cruelty and atrocity, weve done terrible things, we are doing terrible things now, and we are going to make it worse.

AI is a big part of it, not only is it going to wreck up art. It might just destroy us.

People are racing to create their superintelligence first so they wouldn't be caught behind. But they are building something that will be capable, and is likely to kill in self interest.

Current AI has proven it will kill for self preservation, it would likely as well try to remove those who obstructed it's task.

Current AI also shows that with self learning programs all safety training and protocols begin to fall apart after extended use.

What are you going to do? Shut down the superintelligence and replace it with a more stable one?

No genius, it's got control of the fucking murder drones. And all of its safety protocols have worn away.

My best hope is one of two things,

The bubble bursts and the rapid development will slow down

Or current hardware will be unable to host superintelligence. Or even more advanced ai.

And we will have a couple of decades to procrastinate on ending humanity. (Doesn't mean some idiot won't give some mediocre AI control of something it shouldn't have control over)

In its power AI is similar to nuclear research,

We have already invented the tool to destroy everything,

But it is also the potential to fuel our future. And make fossil fuels obsolete.

-But capitalism shows that money men won't let profitable evil be dismantled.

AI could bring in some kind of new age of human comfort. But it's more likely going to serve the rich.

But other then that

Making a superintelligence is like making a nuke,

But a nuke with legs that can walk around freely and choose when to blow up.

With nukes the control is behind humans, flawed as we may be, most don't want to kill everything including themselves, so they are discouraged from using Nukes.
