This AU starts with the fact that Shang Qinghua and Shen Yuan definitely knew each other when they were alive. They were friends, though neither of them knew who the other’s online identity was, and when Shen Yuan was 22, he asked SQH to marry him for A.) tax purposes, B.) so Shang Qinghua wouldn’t end up homeless, and C.) so that when Shen Yuan finally died, Shang Qinghua would pull the plug (He knew his parents wouldn’t be able to, and he couldn’t bare the idea of making his siblings do it).

They are very platonic, but it is very important to know that no one else knew they were platonic. The entire Shen family thinks that they are together, his mother had basically adopted Shang Qinghua, his father and older brothers had all given Shang Qinghua the shovel talk, and his little sister had Shang Qinghua’s number on speed dial.

After they realized the other had also transmigrated with them, they started resuming their old friendship, and they confuse everyone around them. Most of the Peak Lords are trying to figure out what is going on, Yue Qingyuan is giving Shang Qinghua a death glare whatever Shen Yuan has his back turned, and no one has ever been able to figure out what they are. (Some An Ding disciples start a betting pool about it, and within a year, all of the peaks are involved)

However, one day, Shen Yuan gets hurt on a mission, not deadly injured, but unconscious and in bad shape. When Shang Qinghua hears about it, he immediately comes and starts giving instructions to Mu Qingfang, slipping into the same pattern that he had when they were on their first life. 

When someone asks him why he’s making all the decisions, Shang Qinghua, who is caught up in the odd mixture of panic and déjà vu, nonchalantly says “I married him, and that means I get to make medical decisions for him when he is unconscious.”
