She had prepared for the shift, as much as she could anyone. Had told Lilia to stay in her mansion, in the comfort of their room or in her club, away from the woods. Not that the vampire would ever step foot in the dirt, but Nic could see the worry in her eyes before every shift.
She had gone as far from the vampire's place as possible. Knowing her pack was somewhere in the are, an almost comforting feeling that they were within her reach despite the burning sensation in her skin, the strain in her muscles. She was sweating before it even began. She had made sure the bags for the pack were okay, the scent coming from them almost feeling like home, familiar, before meeting with the rest for the shift, a comforting hand pressing on Jude's shoulder as she reached him. A soft 'It will be okay' leaving her lips.
She had carried Diego for only a couple of minutes, trying to help at least distract the baby from the pain in his body before leaving him back in the comfort of his mother's embrace. A small smile on her lips that better resembled a grimace that she directed to Roan as well.
The shift had come as it always did, and through the pressure in her eyes and her own groans and cries, Nic had barely managed to hear the shifts happening around her. When she opened her eyes again, the night looked brighter and her mind wasn't her own.
It took a minute for the shift to settle, for the wolf to be in tune with her senses, sharper still in this form. Golden eyes fall on the younger wolves coming to be around her and she moves closer, feeling the grass and dirt beneath her paws. Before nudging one with her muzzle, a soft warning growl scratching her throat to get them to follow her. The wolf wanted to hunt, basking in the moonlight glow, a howl leaving her before sharp ears started scanning for movement. She took off deeper into the wood, confident the others would follow.
She moved the moment she caught Roan moving from the pack, ears up at the sudden movement. Blood already dripping from her muzzle. She only realized the others were attempting to follow when sharp eyes caught the sound of their movements, and with a fast turn and an angry growl, she warned them to stay put. Rushing to follow the young wolf.
The wolf came to a halt at the unfamiliar steps, a different scent reaching her nose making the hairs of her body stand to attention, her steps turning slow and cautious at the prospect of danger as she moved closer to the familiar scent of the young wolf. Golden eyes taking in the form of a human standing close to him. A dangerous growl leaving her muzzle, sharp fangs showing in anger.
