I went to temple tonight for the first time in years and it was incredible! The Rabbi gave this beautiful speech about rocks. How only unpolished rocks can be used to build holy structures because unpolished rocks are in fact stronger than seemingly perfect polished ones. When we polish rocks we add pressure to them that causes thousands of teeny tiny cracks, and over time, these cracks cause the rocks to crumble. She said we are all like rocks, that by allowing ourselves to be unpolished, exposing our bumpy and jagged edges we are stronger. As cheesy as it may be, I think I’m going to start embracing my rough edges and chipped surface. I’m going to be a beautiful unpolished rock
