Open Waters - Open!
Ban followed behind Nick, wracking his brain for more discrepancies in the game.  âThe professors had varying dialogue depending on which region you picked.  Now they all say the same thing when you log on for the first tiiime.  My spawn region was Kalos, and the professor mentioned a lot of things about exploring the Kalos region, offered tiiips.  That sort of thing.  A friend from Unova said their professor only talked about the importance of filling the PokĂ©Dex.  I guess in the eeend they decided to make the dialogue the same across the board.â
âI think itâs a bit straaange.  Seems like a pointless thing to change.  Maybe itâs so that every trainer received the same information at firstâŠâ  Ban shrugged, not really caring about the answer to the question all that much.  He wasnât particularly attached to the idea.  âAt one point, in certain regions you could pick up other starters that you didnât pick the fiiirst round.  They got rid of that because itâs unfair, I guuuess.â  Another shrug.
They were quickly approaching the lab.  His rather foggy memory of certain events that happened during the Beta test was making it hard for him.  These didnât seem like important changes to him, but Nick seemed extremely invested in the idea so he attempted to think as hard as he possibly could on the subject.  âOh, yeah.  The PokĂ©Dexâs you got at the lab only had enough data storage to add all the PokĂ©mon from that region.  Once you filled it you got an update that allowed you to add PokĂ©mon from other regionsâŠit was limiting, so I fiiigure they changed it for that reason.â
He tilted his head slightly.  âIâm not suuure if any of that was particularly helpful to youâŠâ
Nick took every word in with careful consideration. She typed out everything he said into her notes.
So Ban had started in Kalos and the professor offered some help and emphasized exploring. That may have been a minor hint about the area in that region being important specifically but it wasnât all that likely.
The part about Unova however caught Nickâs attention. The importance of filling out the Pokedex definitely supported her hypothesis about the legendary Pokemon being important. She wasnât sure if all of them had to do with the inner workings of the game, but Nick had a gut feeling about Mew.
The comment about the starters was logical; it would only make sense for trainers to get the one they choose and nothing else.
âIt may not be helpful just yet, but if we find something out that we need to look back on, weâll have it just in case.â
Looking around, Nick saw that they were approaching the lab. Swiping at her menu, she closed her notes and walked down the path with Ban. She looked up at him before knocking on the door.
A few moments later, Professor Oak was standing in front of her, smiling. âNick! Welcome back! Itâs been a while!â He looked up a Ban and smiled. âHello there! And who might you be?â
