The excitement and novelty of the boardwalk doesn’t really fade even after all this time…and after living here for so long. There’s always something to see, or do, familiar faces to see in a different setting…for example, not in a life or death situation! That’s always nice.

Badou settles himself nearby a booth, a rather unpopular one if his fellow bored teen is anything to go by. He’s a bit surprised at the helmet-wearing guy who’s interested in it, but maybe the other games are the same ol’.

The redhead takes one look at the game and hums.

“I think you’re supposed to knock ‘em over with those balls. I hope you have a good arm, cause this bozo probably has them weighted down covertly.”

“Is that so...?”  Canus picked one of the balls out of the basket and inspected it carefully.  It was a rubber ball, but it felt like it might be hollow -- probably to remove some weight.  It was beat up and was probably at one point white, although now it was a dingy grey.  This game sounded simple enough, so he decided to give it a try.

He tossed one of the balls at the clown directly in front of him, but it bounced off ineffectually.  “I see, they clearly are weighed down.”  The clowns didn’t look to be too heavy at first glance, but they clearly had some weight to them -- likely hidden behind the shelf they were sitting on.  Canus wound up again and threw the ball significantly harder this time; the clown bounced backwards and then righted itself again.

Canus bristled slightly in indignation.  “That should have fallen over.  Just how heavy are those weights?”  If he had his normal strength he wouldn’t be having this problem right now.  He grabbed another ball and hurled it at another clown; this one nearly knocked over, but righted itself just the same as the previous clown.

Right in her very own ward was the star trail, a wide range of dishes prepared by the finest folk around. Barbara had a love of spicy dishes, and would probably try nearly anything so long as you promise its not bitter. She perused stall after stall, she searched for something similar to her favorite stew. Alas, she was coming up empty. 

At the next stall, a man had pulled her attention away from the menu when she spoke to her. Turning she realized he was wearing a helmet, and a totally normal outfit. Like her, he must not have been from around here. He was asking about curry, something similar to what he had once before. 

“You too then, huh?” she replied sadly, “I don’t really know much about curries, I was hoping to find something similar to my favorite too. So many options, but there’s nothing quite like what you get at home.” 

“They appear to be approximations...”  He was contemplative for a moment.  “It makes me wish I had asked for the recipe.”  It wasn’t necessary for him to eat, but it could be comforting all the same -- especially if he found something similar to what Kotone would make for the regulars.

“Perhaps it’s time to find new favorites.  It has become clear to me that leaving this place is either impossible or will not be happening anytime soon...maybe it’s better to find a new normal.  It’s unwise for us to rely so heavily on our memories.  It will make living here more painful, and for no good reason.”  Canus nodded to himself as he looked at the menu board again.

🌻 If there’s one thing Helbram is already quite accommodated to, then it’s meeting strange people and beings. His best friend is in love with a giantess while being befriended with a demon. He’s seen a fair share of them during his journey. And he knows that good spirits come in different shapes. He shares the unspoken sentiment the other feels. Cotes really feels a lot like home to him as well. The pixies appear different from the fairy king’s folk, but some traits seem still very similiar.

He’s now having a better look on the displayed goods, his fairy wings idly tucked to his back. He’s come here to look at the pixie’s goods as well, so he doesn’t really mind giving someone a hand with making a decision. Or, trying to anyway.

“You know, if there’s one thing I learned in all these years, it is that tastes vary greatly from one individual to the other. But I suppose…” He’s letting his eyes wander again over the objects and then picks up a blue pot that looks like it has mushrooms growing out from its sides. He’s holding it up while looking at the stranger, and then back at the pot. “Yup, blue certainly suits you.”

“I suppose that is true; however, I don’t believe I’m a particularly picky person.”  He quietly watched the other pick up one of the pots, he appeared to be quite lost in thought before giving his final decision.  Canus clearly didn’t realize this was a reference to the blue flames that spouted from his neck, but was delighted nonetheless.  The flames turned from blue to a vibrant light green.

“Ah, you think so?  It’s very cute.”  He took the pot and turned it over in his hands; it would probably look good on his windowsill.  “Yes, you’re right.  I’ll purchase this one.”  The pixie selling the pottery looked quite pleased as Canus handed over some of his Dust.  She took the pot from him and carefully wrapped it in paper; she put it in a small bag and handed it back to him with a thumbs up.

Due to personal reasons, Patriot cannot move beyond a certain point without cause. It was a struggle to move past his own apartment, but knowing the city is important as well. Since there was no boats leading outside to the oceans without due cause. 

His horns scrape the top of the building, to show how tall he is. 

 “Do you know. If there is a clinic near.”

“A clinic?”  Canus considered the others question for a moment.  He didn’t want to lead him on a wild goose chase, but he was fairly certain he had seen one earlier.

Despite the fact that Specter Knight can go outside during the day, that doesn’t necessarily mean he prefers it. Especially not here, where daytime means swarms of unfamiliar kinds of people and other beings filling out the streets. He’s been to cities in the past, but none so busy as this. Not to mention, his current physical state tends to make bad sensory experiences worse these days. So taking a quieter walk in the evening he found to be much more his pace.

After a while of strolling, he finds himself growing weary, but luckily finds a large tree he could rest under. Still blooming somehow, despite the colder weather, but Specter decides not to look a gift tree in the mouth and sit down underneath. He sighs, closing his eyes and feeling himself relax for the first time since he arrived here. He could find himself dozing off here… if it weren’t for the stranger approaching him.

They’re clad in armor as well… perhaps they’re another knight? If they are, they aren’t any knight he recognizes. He moves to get up, using his scythe to help him stand.

“My apologies,” he says. “I had assumed this tree was unclaimed. If you wish to sit here, I’ll move out of your way.”

Canus waved his hands and shook his head as he watched the other begin to stand.  “No, I’m simply passing through.  I was out for a midnight walk...I’ve been finding it difficult to sleep here.  There’s no need to remove yourself.”  He didn’t wish to burden this stranger with his sleeping issues, so he quickly changed the subject.

“You’re the second person I’ve come across that dons a suit of armor.  It’s almost funny; I’m quite the spectacle where I come from, yet I almost fit in better here.”  Granted, people still found his helmet strange here as well, but he’d come across many strange people with strange outfits thus far.  It made sense, he supposed, since people were being taken from all kinds of places.

Allegedly the Mistwood was a very perilous place to be; it housed these so-called Denizens that were quite malicious among other dangers, but it was simultaneously one of the most beautiful places he’d seen in Radial thus far.  It was pleasant to get away from the hustle and bustle of the city -- with the added benefit that he was able to remove his helmet.

Canus couldn’t say for sure exactly how long he had been wandering through the misty forest, but it was long enough that he actually felt it necessary to take a break.  He had strayed off of the path, but would crisscross back to make sure he kept his bearings.  Of course, as he crossed back he was dismayed to realize that he had lost the path entirely somehow.

He wandered in circles for a moment before doubling back; hopefully if he went in the direction he came he would come across the trail again.  After several minutes, he broke through the tree line and saw the well worn path.  Just as he was about to release a sigh of relief, a massive wolf broke through the tree line a few hundred yards away from him.  It had yet to look his way, so he carefully took a few steps back into the forest.

Unfortunately, he stepped on a branch while he wasn’t looking.

Canus found himself spending quite a bit of time in the Pixies’ Playground.  It reminded him of home -- although he was treated marginally better, all things considered.  The pixies here weren’t afraid of him, so he was free to speak with the small creatures.  He did find his size to be a bit problematic, but it didn’t bother him much in the end.

He was crouched low to the ground to investigate some strange pottery that one of the merchants was selling.  Canus had been warned that the pixies would sometimes sell forgeries, but he wasn’t sure if he particularly cared or not.  He was in a good mood as he delicately sorted through his options.  He had the sense that someone had approached him from behind, but he didn’t bother turning around as he spoke.

He was getting quite a few stares here but he wasn’t entirely sure if it was due to his helmet or if they sensed that he didn’t belong here.  He had received the same amount of strange looks on the 300 level as well.  Canus didn’t feel that he fit in with either the upper or lower levels of the Fibonacci Ward, but they couldn’t fault him for exploring.  He’d yet to find himself in an altercation -- yet, being the defining word.

He had heard in passing someone talking about a garden on this floor; he had his doubts that it was well taken care of considering his current surroundings, but he was interested in seeing it regardless.  Perhaps he could be of some help tending to it, if it needed some TLC.  Canus decided to end his aimless wandering and instead ask for assistance.  None of the people in his vicinity looked particularly friendly, so he opted to simply ask the closest person.

Canus hadn’t ventured very far away from Enchanté during his time there, so a place like the Boardwalk in Golden Ward was a bit out of his depth.  The sight of the rollercoasters made his stomach drop -- he also had a slight fear he might lose his helmet -- so he opted to stay with his feet firmly planted on the ground.  That meant most of the rides were off his fictional limits, so he found himself wandering towards the midway.

The amount of games that lined the street were a bit overwhelming; he didn’t even know where the begin.  After a moments consideration he approached a game that didn’t have a line.  There were strange little clown like dolls lined up along a ledge; the teen running the booth was barely paying attention to him as he tapped away on his phone.  He pushed a basket that had a few small balls towards him without saying anything.

Canus had never considered himself much of a reader, but when he came upon the library in this world his curiosity was piqued.  Maybe he would be able to learn more about this place if he picked up a few books -- it didn’t help that it was mind-numbingly boring without his friends, and he needed to give himself something to do anyway.

As he perused the titles, he came across a book that mentioned Yggdrasil; however, it was not in reference to Medio, but rather some human Earth mythology.  Apparently forgetting why he came here in the first place, he was already drifting off to find a place to sit.  There couldn’t have possibly been a Yggdrasil on Earth; Kotone would know about something like that...right?

He stopped in his tracks when he realized most seats had been taken; there was a single table with free space still left.  The young man sitting there was quite different from the others in the library, but Canus didn’t particularly care as he approached him.

In some ways, Ophiuchus reminded him of Yggdrasil.  Perhaps it was simply the sheer size of it compared to other trees in the area, or maybe it was the fact that it was still in bloom despite it being winter.  Regardless, it gave him somewhat mixed feelings.  It was a beautiful tree, but now that it was nighttime all the small creatures that normally played underneath it were sleeping.  It made the tree less vibrant, and almost lonely.

As he was musing, he noticed there was another solitary figure enjoying the quiet beneath the tree.  He continued his walk, and as he got closer he noticed that they too wore armor.  Curious, the amount of people he happened to be running into that wore such clothes.  In Medio he was the only one, and he certainly never met anyone on human Earth that dressed like that outside of cosplay.  They didn’t appear to be cosplaying, though.

Canus noticed they were carrying a wooden scythe, which reminded him of the sword he had back at his own housing.  They must be new here as well.

It was sheer luck that he happened up the plant.  Some Camilla Sinesis -- the ‘cold hardy tea plant’ -- was thriving despite the snow on the ground.  Canus wasn’t amazing at brewing tea by any means, but he’d watched Kotone do it enough times that surely he should be able to figure it out himself, right?  After all, she had to figure out how to do it without any help -- he had at least had theoretical practice.

He quietly harvested the leaves; by the time he was done he realized he had taken all but a few.  Well, he needed extras in case in messed up.  And if he didn’t mess up, well, then it wasn’t a good use of time to continuously come back here.  He could take some of this root and grow his own back at his new housing.  As he turned to leave, he flinched in surprise when he saw a man standing behind him.  Oh no, he’d watched him take more than his fair share...

Canus was just the tiniest bit nervous to be walking around knowing that he was no longer cloaked by Misyr’s magic.  While he was getting some stares, he actually wasn’t being questioned as much as he had expected.  Perhaps his helmet wasn’t as much of a curiosity here?  Or perhaps they believed he was cosplaying...?

He was lost in thought as he absentmindedly wandered outside of Mermaid Cove Mall.  Something glinted in his peripheral vision; he turned to see someone exiting the mall in a full suit of golden armor.  Ah, perhaps that’s why his helmet wasn’t such an oddity here.  They were carrying an outrageous amount of bags, and it wasn’t long until two of them were accidentally dropped.  Canus was barely aware that he was approaching them until he was standing in front of them, picking up one of the dropped bags.

Canus had decided to peruse the food stalls at the Star Trail.  They didn’t need to eat food in Medio, so he knew he wouldn’t find any ‘home’ cuisine there.  He had; however, taken a liking to some of the food Kotone would make at the café and figured he might like to bring some back to his condo later.  It was typical Japanese curry that he was looking for, but frankly the amount of options he had was slightly overwhelming.

Next to him was a young girl who also seemed to be rather befuddled by the endless selection of foods available to them.  She was wearing rather strange attire compared to others around them, so she was likely from another world same as he.  In which case, she probably couldn’t help him find the curry he was looking for but...maybe it was worth a shot.

alrighty roo, I’m going to put up a starter call for my man canus here.  the softest of caps at 4, but I really don’t care if you go over because I’ll get to it eventually.  I write at work, so I’ll be getting to them tomorrow!
