To the people saying that a Backrooms film proves that House of Leaves can be adapted: No. HoL is an extremely abstract novel and the way the story is told ONLY works in the medium it was published. Backrooms already could work as visual media because it started with a picture.
House of Leaves’ story is centered around a movie that doesn’t exist IN the book’s universe. So unless they make a mockumentary on Johnny Truant’s life, Or pluck out his story and the editors' notes (which would basically be butchering the book) to only make a Navidson Record adaptation, it’s impossible.
