Textual Criticism is Inherently Metal

The ubiquitous nature of Indo-European languages is such a trip bc according to the pop linguistics stuff I've been reading the majority of languages have tones and the majority of langauages have no gendered pronouns like wtf

I used to make fun of people who think that the hardest part of learning hebrew is the new alphabet because like, that was the easiest that class ever got but now with Khmer and its SEVENTY FOUR letters that are kicking my ass I have changed my formerly judgemental ways

I’m done classes and exams and I don’t have a job so now i have no excuses to not work on my language projects!

I sent my prof an 8 page draft and he sent back 6 pages of comments🙄

I lost my voice halfway through Greek class today and my prof, unprompted, stopped asking me to read?? He never does that

Got placed in level א for a modern hebrew class which honestly isnt surprising but is sort of a bummer

LIke two years ago I spent literally 36 hours studying for this exam because I wanted to pull my grade up to an A+, and honestly I hate that I did that for such an unimportant class because it depresses me that I have not been that dedicated to a single project since then, even things that I both care about more and are objectively more important

I gotta get serious about modern Hebrew bc I said on an app that I have "limited" ability in it so I need to work my way up to "limited" in case I ever get called on it.

I'm trying to learn modern Hebrew bc I have sorta a head start but learning a spoken language is stupid because all of a sudden pronunciation matters so much😑 I can't roll my Rs and it's terrible.

My mom just expressed shock when she realized I could read hebrew words. Like the words, in the hebrew alphabet. Which like... what did she think I have been doing for the past year and a half??
