If the goal of the King of Scars was to make me really, really dislike Nina then mission accomplished.
She was one of my favorites in Six of Crows and Crooked Kingdom but geez by the end of King of Scars every single time her POV came up it was a trial. I just can’t stand characters who lie about absolutely everything to people that trust them and think they’re right about all of it. It just drives me nuts.
Even more annoying is I’m sure she’ll be a major character in the next one. I hate her and Hanne as a couple, I hate that she started being into Hanne like two seconds after burying Matthias, and I just really don’t like her story in this book.
I’m reading King of Scars and HARDCORE shipping Zoya and Nikolai
I had people tell me when I started the first trilogy of the GrishaVerse that I just had to get through it in order to get to Six of Crows.
Well. I loved the first three books and I’m partway through Six of Crows and trying to understand why everyone seems to prefer it over the first trilogy. I don’t really like Kaz that much and the rest of the crew are fine. Matthias and Nina are what are keeping me going through it because so far it’s basically a well-planned teenage D&D campaign. It’s not a bad thing! I guess I just expected more after all the Kaz hype?
I’m willing to believe it will get better since everyone raves about it but so far I just miss Nikolai and the Darkling.
I’m trying to make my way through the White Sand series but I just can’t help but think how much more I would have liked this as a full book instead of graphic novels

The interludes in Stormlight are seriously the most frustrating things I’ve ever encountered in a series.
Something crazy just happened and all you want to do is continue with the story and know what happens next? Nah, have forty pages of random perspectives that, while interesting and necessary to read, have little to do with the story that just wrenched your soul.
Most of the times I would skip them, read the first two chapters of the next part and then go back to read them. 😅😅 They are frustating but necessary though.
I only did that once, the interludes after Kaladin was thrown in jail. I just couldn’t handle Lift’s story when I was so worried about Kaladin. That’s when I wrote this post lol. I was so mad that Lift’s was so long.
Telsin Ladrian is seriously the worst human on Scadrial
I need some of the Cosmere books to become movies and/or tv shows. Even if they suck at least it would mean an increase in merchandise I can buy
Kaladin, about Amaram: Sometimes your knight in shining armor is just a douchebag in tin foil.

..but mostly grump.
Adolin: I have decided that I am, in fact, a snack. It’s just that nobody’s hungry.
Shallan, under her breath: I’m starving
Tindwyl: Listen, I don’t need the Elend who once had a panic attack during Rock-Paper-Scissors because there were, and I quote, “just too many variables.”
I need the Elend who stormed into Kredik Shaw to rescue Vin from the Lord Ruler and his army of Steel Inquisitors!
Elend: Oh, boy, now I’m nervous about that decision.
Tindwyl: Retroactively? I mean, how do you even…?
Elend: I don’t know
What a talented man
Did anyone ever explain why there are random giraffes wandering around in the roughs
I know it won’t happen because the worldhopping timelines don’t match up and all that and it’s super silly but I can’t help thinking about how well the Mistborn Era 2 gang would get along with the Stormlight characters:
Wax teaching Adolin how to load and shoot a gun
Wayne and Shallan talking about disguises. She would totally get his hat thing and he would love Lightweaving
Marasi joining up with the Windrunners and being bffs with Lyn
Steris and Jasnah discussing the foibles of men and the best ways to make lists and notes
MeLaan and Syl ganging up to tease Kaladin. She’d have so much fun with him.
Can you imagine how well Wayne and Lift would get along? “Finally someone who understands me!” Meanwhile Wax and Dalinar stand in a corner and shake their heads at the completely nonsensical conversations they have.

Adolin Kholin, everyone
With Kaladin an interesting opposite of sorts. What was Rock’s line?
“Some days it seemed you couldn’t break Kaladin Stormblessed with all the rocks on Roshar. Then one of his men would get hurt, and you’d see him crack.”
^^^^^^^^^
They’re really good contrasts to each other. Adolin faced a lot of crap in his life too (different crap but still crap). Their approaches are so different but somehow complimentary.
A question for the Cosmere fandom- If you could go back and read one of the Cosmere books for the first time again, which one would you choose and why?
Personally I would pick Hero of Ages because finishing it left me shocked and crying, laying on my floor for an hour while it processed. I would love to experience that again.
