Dress rehearsal Part 2
I made a Sexual Discrimination process video...
Thoughts?
WELL DONE!!!
I want to say a huge congratulations to all of you, on your first show at the Miskin Theatre. You absolutely smashed it in my eyes and I am so proud of you. The most challenging part of this process for me was keeping you all focused and I noticed that some of you doubted the piece in the begging, which created a negative atmosphere at times. However, I personally really enjoyed working with you all on this process and I think as a company you have so much potential. Being given the opportunity to experience a director’s role has allowed me to have an insight into a directors mindset. I think this has help me as an actor because it has dramatically changed my perspective on professionalism. I now understand how important it is to be professional and I've realised that being present, focused and having a good energy about me to bring to the floor at all times, is so vital as an actor.Â
It would be nice to have some feedback from you guys. Thoughts and feelings on this process? and performance?
Thank you! :)

Thursday's Performance Feedback
This is the feedback and notes that we received based our performance...
Strengths:
- Liked the commitment
- Made a member of the audience cry
- A switch on what is happening now
- Always asking the audience questions like…
- Why can’t you be accepting?Â
- How can being straight be a sin?Â
- With the ending, could that be how the gay community feel?Â
- Challenging the audience
- Loved the emotionÂ
- Could relate to Natalie’s character
- New world
- I liked how you used a classroom in one of your scenes it was so realisticÂ
- Took it and made it something beautiful
- Felt uncomfortable as an audience member
- Turned into flashbacks
- Sensitive subject
- Alternative universe
- This isn’t made up this is actually happening
- The message was Powerful and it had strong transitions
- Open to interpretation
- Realisation of societyÂ
- Excepting others for who they are
-Turning a minority into a majorityÂ
- Committed to it
- Natalie has no escape inside and outside the scene
Weakness:Â
- To similar to the video that we got our inspiration fromÂ
- Think about it on the reverse
- Need to commit to the stage combat and really go for itÂ
- Work more on the contact lines it wasn’t always believableÂ
- Freak build up needs to be slower in order to create more tension and provoke a major response
Carleigh’s note:Â
- The worse thing that could happen to Sam (Natalie) is to be falsed into kissing another girl
- Touching on a subject like this is very sensitive
- You have to do it with complete commitment
- Don’t make it a mockeryÂ
- If you are going to do it, you need take it seriouslyÂ
- Down stage hand for the slap
- Love the risks you are takingÂ
- Very brave
Stage Combat
Scene 4: 'Turn down for what'
This is the running order of the fight...
Maze - Everyone
Trap her - Claire, Katie and Vicky (Shout: Grab her)
Stomach punch - Claire
Leg kick and hair pull - Vicky (Come on you wimp fight us!)
Real face slap - Katie
Big stage slap - Claire
Push to the floor - KatieÂ
Crawling back - Natalie
Pull her up and push her back into the fight - Vicky
Face off, Eye contact and Silent pause - Natalie & Katie
Circling and whispering - Everyone
Safety of the platforms - Not allowed on the platform unless directors or DSM (Tom) is in the space Frame can hurt as it is heavy and metal When you are on top we have to have counter weight When you stop, three points or two points of contact must apply Counter weight - when there are people on top, others are pushing, balancing out the space of the platform Apply the brakes when stationary Be careful the frames by the stairs, can brake your shins Have to wear shoes while on it or near it It can move very fluently Walking up the ladder can slip as steps are circular, hold railing at top Can hold railing to make you feel safe and prevent you from falling When turning have one point of contact while on top Do not jump off it unless directed!!! 5 people up at a time unless directed When you are about to push do not put your foot on the frames
Feedback from prologue performance
Feedback - Vicky - liked Terry's, reminded of Sunday school Jamie - the film 1984, if you think the wrong thing you are done for Ryan - liked seeing male version, David's was intriguing to see he was being controlled Shannon - the whole technique of whispering in your ear, Tabitha's was powerful Terry - the group showed different emotions
What are your thoughts Tabitha's performance? How did you interpret it?

Here is the clip Sam showed us that has inspired us as a company to write the script for our piece. I think taking a different approach to sexual discrimination will be something new for us all to explore and to raise the awareness of this subject. I hope the audience will then recognise things like this are overlooked. What are your views on this clip and our approach to the work?
