If there’s food or liquid in your stomach, it will near certainly come back up and go into your lungs, which can cause choking, a severe lung / heart infection or even a heart attack. That’s called aspiration, and it is life-threatening. It's hard, but it's only a single day to prevent near certain death. I have four kids. I’ve had one or another of them need some kind of surgical procedure that requires anesthesia four or five times over the past 15 years.
This Tumblr post is the first time someone has explained to me *why* I couldn’t feed them before those instances.
I’m not stupid. I understood that just fine. Hell, my kids would have understood that just fine. But no one bothered to tell us.
i did know this before having kids (i have six). we have a kid that's needed multiple procedures requiring anesthesia. and every single time, i am asked multiple times if i'm sure he was not given any food or water after a certain point.
every single time i have had to say, "i understand that if he had food or water, he could aspirate it into his lungs under anesthesia. i am not lying to you." THEN someone would make a little note and i would stop being repeatedly asked.
not a single time was that risk explained to me. the only reason it came up was because i already knew. i still don't understand why it isn't standard pre-op counseling or pre-op check information, when me as a parent acknowledging the actual risk also put THE MEDICAL STAFF at ease because i conveyed that i had informed understanding as reason to not lie about giving my kid food.
"maybe some people will get nervous and refuse surgery" okay so they need more counseling about risks and anxiety, not less information in a way that actually does endanger their child or themselves!

Xiaofei 100%, I'd love to wear daily hanfu but I'm not sure if I'm allowed to wear traditional Chinese clothing even though I'm half Chinese ethnically. I've got a weird relationship with my Chinese ancestry we know this probably.

Nobody really. Whipstitch doesn't count e is me.

I think largely I'm an open book on ocs. I don't thiiiiink I have something I haven't shared yet.

I think they all get the attention they deserve, mostly. I like the women more so I think they should have more attention but I think it's roughly proportional.

Vivian has an AU named Antique Apathy wherein she had a woman lover while she was a nun and lost touch with her after her unwilling turning.
I was recently thinking about an Eoforhild VTuber AU where its stream persona takes most of its vampire lore and its real life equivalent being more of a Modern Day adaptation of its main being. Still an it/its user though. At least its flesh form is.

Vivian hands down. Catholic upbringing and abusive sire takes it all for me.

Some of them are weird on different axes (plural of axis not the woodcutting tool). Eoforhild is the weirdest real-person wise. Movvie and Asa are the weirdest generalized concepts.
Which of your ocs do you think you would get along with best in real life?
Emerald and I would probably get along kind of well. Asa is generally agreeable but not quite a get-along person. Xiaofei and I would likely understand each other but we'd probably be too similar.
Which one of your ocs do you think you would dislike the most in real life?
I would hate Vivian in real life probably.

Powerful individuals (physically or magically) that aren't actively power-grabby but can use their power to intimidate others and support those they care about. That and being intrinsically tied to someone without being romantically involved.

Emerald and Quartzite have some romantic inclination in their relationship in some way. I don't know in what way, if it's an office crush or a full-blown relationship, but there's something there.
Asa has a crush on Movvie but she doesn't recognize it as a crush because romance isn't brought up in MISO.

Asa is also one-sided enemies with Movvie. Complicated relationship.

I have a ship of Theseus situation with some ocs from middle school, where I keep rewriting them again and again. None of them currently have names but their original version did!

You get two! Meet Imane (left) and Quartzite (right)! Their roles in MISO are detailed here! They're not related, they just have similar hairstyles (Quartzite is intended to have braids pulled back into a ponytail with some synthetic white hair and Imane is intended to have locs). Everyone in MISO has glasses largely because I like them. Emerald uses them for blue light reasons, Imane has hyperopia (farsighted), and Quartzite has myopia (nearsighted) and astigmatism.
