I started sift the black from the white with this picture. I had this idea of Joe making a crack about the cold and Anthony being all “not for a long…” and then sort of realising what he said.

Making the music didn’t have the same instant star making power of other reality shows, the first season winner Marcus had two number one albums on the back of mega singles and has a career now mostly based in Europe.

Second season winner brother and sister hip hop act Reece and Lauren James did okay but it seems their future is more in producing.

But The Young Dudes, set up to be the dream dates of tween girls everywhere, were lightning in a bottle. Three mega albums, 11 number one singles, success in the States.

It was no surprise as the members aged out of that demographic that they chafed against the rules and the imposition of other people’s music choices.

But their contract demanded four albums and to be allowed to go back to their new careers - Tino’s success as a solo act, Nico’s work with urban artists, Jarell in acting, and acknowledging the issues that James had between tv hosting gigs - they need to reunite for one last ride.
