she was a miracle
you're just going to leave me again?
It would be so disappointing if we never got a moment where Nasuka learns of Kureha’s death. But at this point it doesn’t even feel like it would matter. Because it’s been so long since Kureha’s death. And although I still feel the residual effects of that moment on the show and I have watched each episode since with that squarely in the front of my mind. I don’t think it would have the same emotional impact it would if we had gotten it earlier. But at the same time we have gotten absolutely nothing for Nasuka and Kureha and their story will have loose ends no matter what the finale looks like. So at least seeing Nasuka’s reaction to learning about Kureha’s death. Seeing her mourn Kureha would be one way, one terrible and stupid way, of ending their story. A story that we never got to see and experience in its entirety. A fucking shame.
I'm taking a leap of faith and posting an edit I made.

Maddie’s moment of vulnerability with her mom is what leads the door in her scar to unlock. She’s finally asking for help, even if it’s just emotional help, instead of trying to do it on her own. Maddie’s been at her breaking point this entire time. And she’s tried her hardest to hold herself together and figure this out on her own. But she can’t and now she’s lost both Wally and Simon. So for her to finally open up to her mom. Tell her mom the truth of what actually happened to her. And for her mom to believe her and be there for her like a parent should it’s like a short breath of relief. Or some weight off her shoulders. It’s enough to allow for that door to open.
Also so interesting that the song playing as Maddie enters her scar and opens the door is called ‘Hell is Near’. With Maddie venturing into hell to go find Simon. Is that not Eurydice and Orpheus coded?
this is how i'm coping until the next episode comes out

I wonder if Simon feels an obligation to get himself out of his current situation because Maddie has saved him so many times. He already knows she’s going through a bunch of other stuff and doesn’t want to add more weight on her shoulders. And maybe that’s also why he was so desperate to help her in season 1 and season 2. He might’ve thought he owed her for saving him since they were kids. Not that he wouldn’t have helped her even if he didn’t feel like he owed something to her. No matter the situation Simon would’ve done anything he could to help Maddie. But I think it adds another layer to his decision to help her. Maybe it makes him more reckless, more desperate. And more willing to sacrifice much of his own life and future for her.
The paragraph above stems from thoughts I had hearing Simon's reply to Maddie after she says she wants to save him. She wants to return that favor. Simon doesn’t necessarily reject it but his reply expresses that she doesn’t need to save him because she’s done it many times since they were kids. An alternative interpretation could be that he is reassuring Maddie that she has saved him before. However, even in this case it’s interesting that he states ‘so many times’ as if to emphasize that she has saved him just as much if not more than he has her. Either way it feels like he’s not accepting her help. Which could be out of fear for her safety since she’s alive again and he doesn’t want her to risk it on him. Or he feels like he doesn’t deserve it the way she deserved his help. I don’t know if I would say Simon has no self-worth but this season has me pondering whether he cares about himself at all outside of his family and friends.
