Here are thirteen fics I've really enjoyed in the Nevermoor fandom that i'd love others to check out :D

note: fics with silverborn spoilers are below the "read more"

four men in uniform (to carry home my little soldier) by hazel_not_wrong (orphaned account) - fascinating wwii AU, hawthorne POV - the new roles of the characters who appear are well selected and so well executed - as someone with an interest in modern history, i really enjoyed reading it

in-laws by morrigancrows - genuinely hilarious take on morrigan and hawthorne's reaction to other characters getting together (specifically jack/homer in this case) - the shenanigans. top tier. top humour

made a wreck out of my hand (i put it through the wall) by Pit_and_Chase - ANGST ANGST ANGST IT HURTS IN THE BEST WAY AN ANGST FIC CAN (please heed the tags people, esp if you get triggered by descriptions of self harm, this is a heavy one) - a particularly poignant and fitting exploration of darker sides of the characters' circumstances - actually so devastating and i get so worried for poor mog, it has the hopeful ending she needs. the way the different people try to care for her oughhhh

Highly Inappropriate Crushes: The Dread of Morrigan Crow by shoot_i_messed_up - both a funny and angsty exploration of the crushes that teens find themselves dealing with - unit 919... i love their friendship and how it's shown in this fic - just really good unit 919 dealing with teenager stuff its so good. i love thaddea and how she's both protective and has a good sense of humour

Hurt by Wylanvaneck10 - lets gooo anah/thaddea - cute and awkward with a touch of angst (awkward in a good way)

Cadence says no to deportation by AYellowCanary - an alternate POV for a particularly interesting scene - very very interesting reframing of the moment. cadence is the character of all time

The Sad Wundersmith Club by MOON_SOON - hilarious look inside the wundrous society and how squall feels about their chaotic meetings

Fireworks by anonymous - sweet post-canon rarepair (the ship is cadence/hawthorne) (i love friends to lovers SO MUCH esp when the characters are older or adults) - love how the characters are reckoning with both adulthood and their feelings for each other, i like how the themes overlap - FRIENDS TO LOVERS MY BELOVED

(what do you mean, you've lost your) scarlet welly boots by maileesque - I NEARLY CRIED ARE YOU KIDDING ME - so faithful to the characters amongst the wreckage of the death of a beloved man - just. augh. the depiction of grief. the. augh. just read it okay. its so fucking good - (thank you to TJ who recommended this one in their own fic rec post here! that's how i found it)
