one thing I really like about rob mcelhenney's performance as mac is that since he was raised around brothers who are all gay he has a lot of mannerisms that are subconsciously rooted in a lot of gay men that subtly signal to other people that they are queer. all while being a straight man WHICH is another reason why even though they hadn't decided to make mac gay until much later in the series it still tracks as far back as the pilot episode
