Hoard follows Maria, a young woman in foster care as she comes to terms with her mother's death and enters a bizarre and toxic relationship with Michael. Her grief drives her to hoard various items, especially trash, imitating her mother, who also had a hoarding obsession and severe anxiety.

I enjoyed the first half of the movie, mostly flashbacks of Maria and her mom, more than the second half, but the performance, especially Joseph Quinn's, were pretty strong, which I feel makes up for some of the plots inconsistencies. Slightly too long, but somehow not quite enough is said. Still, very aesthetic cinematography.

Fun fact, the namesake of this blog is taken from the collection of hoarded items belonging to Maria's mom, her "Neverending Catalog of Love" ❤️✨️🪽

Stephen Boyd ❤️🪽🕊

I'm back. My love for golden age actors cannot be denied, and Stephen Boyd is my favorite among them. I first saw him in Ben-Hur (1959) where he played the main antagonist, Messala. A fine example of the full package, looks, voice, charisma.

Inside the fifth edition

I think I first stumbled upon Wish You Were Here in my YouTube recommended, but I can't be sure now. I've watched it dozens of times, watching it swing from brash comedy to tragedy to its bittersweet conclusion. Emily Lloyd's performance is what keeps me coming back, she delivers every line exactly how she should, especially her "Neither do you," sass to the bus driver early on in the film. Tom Bell is also great, perfectly creepy but you almost start to feel bad for his character (almost). Jesse Birdsall as the bus driver and Lynda's sometime boyfriend is also fantastic. Really, the performances are strong all-around. The post-war seaside town aesthetic is wonderfully done, and really makes the viewer acutely aware of Lynda's boredom, depression, and loneliness.

I don't see much discussion of this film, but it's had a huge impact on how I view media and my own creative process, and now immortalized in the never-ending catalogue of love 💔🪽❤️

Continuing the sexy men posts... young Mickey Rourke was rugged and gorgeous, a sort of working class sex symbol. Shame his plastic surgeries did not turn out well, but he's still a tremendous actor
