for starters the comic itself features the creator(a fully grown adult man) shipping himself with a 13 yo character, having that same 13 yo character date a 19 yo, many incestuous jokes made, very dated language(use of slurs in early 2010s) and more!

it being homestuck, it grew a large fanbase in a short amount of time so early-mid 2010s you couldn’t be on the internet without a mention of homestuck(exaggeration), so that’s one annoyance. The reputation itself involves cosplayers cosplaying trolls, buckets being spit into, and buckets being thrown at other people. -There was a Homestuck cosplayer who bathed in sharpie ink and alcohol to try and dye their skin grey in a hotel bathroom, leading to the group they were with having to pay 100s of dollars in damages. There should be a tumblr post detailing it.

-A lot of people were just starting cosplay and didn’t realize or know that they had to seal their body paint. This led to grey paint being left all over cons, with lots of cleanup needing to be done. There were even some cosplayers who even tried swimming with the body paint on.

-There was a group of people who decided to pass a bucket around, i believe gargle some drink(soda, water, etc.)?, and spit in it. In the bucket was a mix of drinks, spit, and food.The bucket got so disgusting that someone puked into it.

-There were also buckets being thrown at people. Someone got a concussion from one, I heard.

What the fuck?

PLEASE SOMEONE EXPLAIN THIS TO ME I DON’T GET IT! I KEEP SEEING PEOPLE GETTING ANGRY ABOUT HOMESTUCK REFERENCES AND I DON’T GET WHY CAN ANYONE EXPLAIN WHATS HAPPENING!
