all social media websites incentivize conflict but no place trains you to fight shadow demons 24/7 quite like tumblr. every ffffucking time I open my feed I see people locked in mind duels trying to convince the commons that the other person is hitler. there are campaigns of covert operations and anonymous inbox trolling that stretch back years. there is something here that makes everyone miserable and you gotta walk away from it.

I gave this website an honest try but I think I just don't get it. I actually think I aged out of this shit

I came back to my tumblr about a year ago and my main takeaway is that I need an actual blog. I spent years on microblog platforms writing almost nothing of note. I'm not even sure who I'm talking to on here! like I can count on my left hand the number of friends who I believe still follow this.

Livejournal felt like more of a record of my life than this, or x dot com the everything app, or whatever cohost was supposed to be. I think I would like a more organized archive of my feelings. It would sure beat leaving a bunch of posts in drafts where I wax maudlin about old friends.

if anything interesting actually happens on this site any more I can just watch the Strange Aeons video about it. I met some really cool people by posting on here, so in that regard I think my tumblr experiment was worth it. but most of what I see here is just intracommunity skirmishes and inside baseball and tired millennials screaming at each other.
