Well, everyone has their own talents. Yours is more performance based, that’s all.
True. Performance is something I’m pretty good at. Or at least I’ve fooled every part of myself into thinking so, and now other people believe it. But I’m gonna go with being pretty good at it.
So I’ve been told.
Actually, I like to believe it’s the people behind it. I couldn’t do half the stuff they do.
I’m really hoping so, Nel. I just can’t believe I made such a stupid mistake.
I think you can now. I mean, they can do it with iPhones, I know. Is that the kind you have?
A fan just showed me a picture of what I’d look like as Hedwig. It was rather shocking and a touch impressive.
Photoshop, man. It’s impressive.

Nothing. I just want a hug.
Oh...okay, I guess that makes sense.
So I dropped my iPhone and the screen is shattered. I’m having such a great day.
Oh my god, that is the worst thing in the world. Maybe you can get it replaced?
I have that Style song by Taylor Swift stuck in my head. It’s so damn catchy!
I feel like everything Taylor Swift sings is written specifically to get stuck in people’s heads.
Hey.
H-- whoa, okay. What happened to you?
I mean probably not, but on the off-chance I have to feign shock.
Okay, I’ve got ya. But now it is 110% legal, and I have never been more excited to be an adult.

This Is Weird...Very Weird || Nellie&Cas
“But I don’t want to go to upstate New York, that’s just the thing. If I’m going to get out of here, I want to be gone. I want to go to some place where I know nobody and nobody knows me and I won’t be able to just come back whenever,” he explained. “But you’re right, it would be cheaper. Guess I’m just lucky I don’t have a lot of stuff I have to move with me.” Cas shook his head softly, chuckling. “I’ve had enough chances, I think. I’m going. But it’s nice to know you’d miss me.”
Cas thought that the building he saw must be where the restaurant was at. God, he didn’t like restaurants. Restaurants didn’t like him either. It just didn’t match. Fancy food with lots of vegetables that he would eat but never really enjoy and a waiting staff that was so friendly it made him feel uncomfortable. But maybe it wouldn’t be too bad, maybe he could have some fun. “Okay, but what kind of boyfriend am I? Am I like the annoying one who has an opinion on everything but doesn’t know what he’s talking about? Or just plain dumb? Or actually an okay boyfriend? I could also flirt with your mom and her boyfriend if you want to get them really uncomfortable, but that’ll cost you extra,” he grinned as they stepped into the restaurant. He then kept his mouth shut, just standing behind Nellie like a child in some huge ass fancy store, not knowing what to do but just try and not be noticed.
“I guess that makes sense...” Nellie admitted somewhat reluctantly. Cas was still a friend, and she didn’t want to see him leave in a rash decision he would regret later on. Nellie thought for a moment when he was talking about having been given enough chances. “Okay...but I will, because that’s what people that enjoy the company of other people do.”
Nellie listened to Cas’ question. She hadn’t realized that she hadn’t specified, and said he just had to come along to keep her sane. She didn’t need him to be playing her boyfriend. That is, if he was being serious. “Well, if you really want to play the boyfriend, be reasonably normal. I’ll leave the rest open to artistic interpretation. But you don’t have to play the boyfriend if you don’t want to. Although, it’ll be nice to get some sweet revenge with the B-Bomb if you do.” Nellie explained, before turning back to the man at the desk. He nodded, and told the two of them to follow him to the table. As they approached, Nellie’s Mom stood, and greeted her daughter with a hug, as the host slinked off. “Hey, Mom,” Nellie greeted, “Hi, Matthew.” She addressed her Mom’s boyfriend, before turning to Cas. “Oh, Mom, this is Cas. I figured it would be okay if I brought someone along? You did say that was fine, right?” Nellie asked, feigning ignorance about her choice to bring another person with her. “Yes, of course, it’s no problem at all.” Her Mom said, watching the boy for a moment. “Uh, Cas, this is my Mom, Melinda, and her boyfriend Matthew.” She introduced, glancing back at Cas.
Oh, wait shit you’re telling me it wasn’t legal before? Shit.
I don’t think we ever went out drinking together? But, nope, not really. I am officially 21. I have all the basic rights of adulthood now.
Who wants to legally go out drinking with me for the first time tonight?

“Hey kid,” he greeted her with a short wave as he saw her come up to him. Cas listened to her instructions as to where they were supposed to meet her mom and the mom’s boyfriend, figuring he’d never really been there before. “I have to agree with you there, taxis are only any good when you’re too drunk to walk… or when you have broken legs or something, that also counts.”
He followed her, was walking next to her, but watching her every move, figuring she knew where she was going and he didn’t have to pay attention to anything or anyone but her. It formed a nice contrast with the way she seemed to want to ignore him. Did he do something? He was honestly curious, maybe even a bit worried, because their silences never felt this uncomfortable. And then Cas heard the word Ohio. So, maybe that was is. “Yeah. I mean, it sounds like it could be fun, and what are my other options? I don’t have anything keeping me here anymore, and I could audition for new things, sure, but I’m still some messed up alcoholic who -if he even manages to get a job- can’t keep it. Don’t think I deserve a new chance just to mess it up again, hm? Ohio sounds good enough. Maybe get myself a horse to keep me company or something.”
Nellie nodded, hearing him out, but all she could think would be how awful it would be to have to deal with having distance between her and another person she cared for. It was selfish, but she hated missing people more than anything. Especially the living. She shrugged, nodding a halfheartedly. “Yeah, I guess...I mean, you could just go to upstate New York for all of that, though..,” Nellie looked at him, “Not that you have to do what I say, I just...thought maybe it’ll be cheaper than moving everything all the way to Ohio.” At least in upstate New York she would be able to drag him back to the city every once in a while. “And, you know Cas, a new chance is a chance to redeem yourself. You don’t have to mess it up.” She danced lightly around the topic. It was hard to approach this, because she had learned than when she went in with guns blazing, it always ended up in a fight. If she was softer, it went better for the both of them.
The lights of the restaurant appeared in the distance, and Nellie sighed. “I don’t know, I’ll bug you about it later. We have to get through this dinner first,” Nellie explained more to herself than Cas. “I just wanted you to know that I, for one, would miss having you around the city-- if that means anything.” Nellie approached the front of the restaurant. “I don’t know if anyone has said that, but I know that’s what I would want to hear from someone right now.” The gossip blog was filled with lies, but Nellie had a feeling that the post about Bare held some water. “Uh, alright, let’s do this.” Nellie pulled open the door, holding it open behind her to let Cas in. “Uh, yes, I was meeting Melinda Boone here. Are they at the table yet?”

Cas stood there, waiting outside of Nellie’s apartment building, and actually quite happy that the weather wasn’t all that bad. If he had to, he’d actually meet her at her apartment door, but whenever he could avoid being near cats, he was the first to jump at the chance and stay away. Damn cats, man. When he was little, Cas thought he’d get over his fear of them as he got older, that he’d be all okay with cats when he was grown up. But in his mind, he never really had grown up.
After all, as soon as he got fired and had nothing that kept him in New York anymore, he’d almost immediately packed his bags to just get the fuck out. Some childish dream of how he’d be better off somewhere else and that he’d maybe just live on some small farm and do nothing all day but ride horses and occasionally smile at people had him almost gone not a day after. He knew it was dumb, he knew he wouldn’t be better off. His problems were the kind that followed him. But breaking through the pattern just felt like a necessity, he had to get away. Maybe even if it was just because he wanted to see if anyone would try to stop him. Well, he was stopped, if only for a while. He’d told Nellie he’d do this, knowing he wouldn’t have wanted to go meet some boyfriend of his own mom like this if she was still alive. So, Cas was here now. He hadn’t left yet. And maybe that was good. He didn’t know.
Nellie made her way outside, pleased to find it wasn’t as cold as she thought it was going to be. She saw Cas standing on the sidewalk below, and moved down the stairs to meet him. “Hey, Cas, thank you again. This is going to save me a lot of disgust and annoyance.” Nellie muttered. It wasn’t that the boyfriend was a bad guy, Nellie just didn’t trust his motives or him in general. “Uh, we’re supposed to meet them at the restaurant in fiffteen. It’s on the corner of 8th and West 35th.” Nellie explained. “It’s only a couple blocks, so we can walk. Besides, walking is forever faster than a taxi in this city.” She was rambling at this point. Why did she always ramble?
Nellie started towards the restaurant, glancing at her feet, light posts, cars parked along the street-- basically anything that wasn’t Cas. Mostly because the only thing she could think of to talk about was his threat to move to Ohio. Of course, he saw it as a choice. Nellie, however, saw it as a threat to a friendship she really didn’t want to lose. She was really bad at the whole not caring thing. Still, just asking if he was still moving or had found a place couldn’t really hurt, right? “So...you’re still hell bent on Ohio?” Nellie finally asked, breaking the far from comfortable silence between them.

This Is Weird...Very Weird || Nellie&Cas
How had Nellie let herself be talked into this? Her birthday was a few days away and, sure, it was a big deal, but the last thing she wanted to do was to go out with her Mom’s boyfriend. He wasn’t a bad guy, per se, but Nellie just didn’t trust him. Maybe she just didn’t trust any guy that got too close to her family, but the last thing she needed to do was deal with him lip locking with her Mom through the night. And she knew the best way to keep them from being intimate was to bring a complete stranger with her to this get together. It wasn’t like her Mom would say no, and it would be the perfect excuse to keep them from annoying the hell out of her. Of course, she could have asked anyone she knew, but Cas seemed like the best option. He got the whole obnoxious parent thing, and he had no filter. He’d shut down anything either of them tried. It was besides the point, but Nellie did enjoy spending time with him as well. Even if he didn’t want her thinking like that, she would anyway. She’d just keep it to herself.
Nellie sighed, fixing the last curl over her shoulder before, releasing an exasperated sigh. “Well, Aslan, this is it. Do or die. Wish me luck. If I’m not home by two o’clock, tell my Understudy she can be the full time Natalie.” Nellie said, petting the cat quickly, before checking to make sure he had food and water. Nellie knew getting Cas to her apartment with a cat there would be next to impossible, so she just told him to meet her outside the apartment building instead. Nellie sat outside, pulling her coat around her, as she leaned against the concrete railing of the stairs. She waited, hoping Cas wouldn’t bail on her at the last minute. She didn’t think he would, but with all the talk of him moving lately, Nellie didn’t know what to believe. Although, she was kind of hoping he would decide to stay in New York. She couldn’t stop him, but...a girl could dream.
Holiday candy is honestly the best thing ever, and Easter candy is especially great because it brings out the peeps and the Reese’s eggs.
Don’t tell me you left Cadbury eggs out of that list. I could eat 20 of those things in one sitting.
