Duo: ...Looks like we lost again. Seriously, why on earth did I even take on this job?... She asked me that, too.

*Flashback:

Hilde: Wouldn't you normally turn it down? Why did you accept it? Because of peace? Rewards? Or just to kill time?

Duo: You'll have to ask the clouds about that.

Hilde: Aren't all the clouds here just imitations*?

Duo: I guess that's true- but imitations* have their own reason for existing, you know.

Hilde: For example?

Duo: So they can hope that someday they will become real, right? It would be great if we can both become the real thing someday, Heero.

Heero: I can not talk about peace. I can never become the real Heero Yuy......

*the kanji used here is 偽物 (fake, imitation) but the katakana next to it is キッチュ which is a reading of "kitsch" which means "cheap art" or "trash" in German, so in a less positive context it would mean something so much more self-deprecating.

=> Duo made small talks with ease, which Heero accepted and even replied, which is a nice progression from EW. Regarding the topic, I think it's a reminder that Duo has always lived with a well-constructed facade on his face and demeanor, but he's hopeful that someday he can become "real", while Heero has a real figure that he was forced to live up to, the politician of the past Heero Yuy who aimed for peace, but our Heero is not related to him and he knows he can never be that person.

Duo: All right! I manage to unlock it.

Heero: As expected...

Duo: The security is outdated, so the real problem lies ahead.

Heero: Yeah, I'm counting on you.

Duo, thinking: (......Damn, he's really down.)

=> Heero recognized Duo's skills and he's openly relying on Duo, which is another nice touch from EW. On the other hand, Duo can recognize Heero is not his usual self and is currently depressed over Relena being shot and bleeding, which Heero thinks it's his fault.

Heero: There's no time...... Let's launch!

Duo: Leave the support to me!

=> Even though it's primarily for the mission, it's nice that Duo is being here and supports Heero all the way while Heero is currently not in his best condition emotionally and others already have their own tasks.
