I think it’s really sad that this move from the anthem not being compulsory at school to it being essential, is very politically motivated. It’s for political parties that understand that there is an identity crisis, and I think that this shows that only if you don’t know where you are anymore, you will try to hold on to the most obvious symbols

I know that if you go to a village here or there or different parts of the city, you will experience different cultures and subcultures everywhere — even languages. There are various languages and dialects that I can’t even understand, for such a small country. This is what is damaging about the symbols. It pushes out all the mini symbols. You might go to a village here and they do things differently, so I think this is the problematic and interesting things about the symbols. If it has a shape, then it automatically excludes all the other shapes that are different. In the end, every country is multi-faceted and multilingual, but how to deal with this or how to represent this? It’s an interesting question.
