Au time
Ok, so
I had this idea for an AU where the story takes place in a Fantasy/lost land world, kinda like an Atlantis?
People believes in two major goods (there was a lot of complex shit but idk how happy I'm with that now so...):
- The Moon (Kid): basically he (along with his minor deity Court) is the god of everything that "lies in the dark", but his major thing is that he's heavily related to Death as the end of a cycle, the final step for the renovation, a final rest for those who deserve it.
- The Sun (eventually Black Star): Is pretty much Moon's opposite, he's related to life, creation and strength, but also to a enormous passion, a will that overpowers everything, a fire that can warm a house just like it can burn down a whole village.
These Major Gods are more like forces of the universe, that needs a new vessel every few thousand years (think of it like Raava, from avatar in the sense that the vessel has their own personality and isn't a mere puppet for the spirit)
Moon's vessel has already been chosen and ascended, so people don't interact closely a lot with him, Kid is just fulfilling his duties as a god, and watching what the one who's destined to be his companion does (ofc i would make it DeathStar)
Black Star's mom gets a prophecy once. She knows that her son is going to be Sun's new vessel and she tries to raise him as a Warm Sun, a god of love and compassion, but when White Star gets to know it, he decides to raise him as a warrior, a Destructive Sun.
When Black Star is old enough, things happen and he's forced to go his own way, no mom or dad telling him what should be done, just the knowledge that he's destined to more than greatness and he's willing to destroy himself to fullfil that destiny.
It's a Long forgotten AU. I might get back to it someday, but if anyone sees this, likes the idea and wants to do something, you can take it (:
A new day, a fresh brain
I can add a bit more to this.
One of my ideas was that multiple vessels were selected (Maka, Black Star, Jaqueline and Kilik), from North, South, East and West. They all know that they can be ascended and have their own motivations to compete against the others, but no one really knows what would make them gain The Sun's favor or how can they show that they're worth it, so each one embraces a different aspect of The Sun.
Kid has ascended a couple hundred years ago, so he's relatively new to the Godhood, but he knows that whoever ascended as the New Sun would be vital to keep the divine balance (and for himself). He tries to help everyone at first, trying to be impartial and find the best option, he goes to them in their dreams and taking different forms on the daylight, trying to help them discover what they need to be the perfect vessel, but he grows rapidly fond to Black Star, even when he's probably the worst option
Black Star is the worst option because he doesn't really understand what being the New Sun means, he was raised to only see it as a way to get infinite power, for what? He doesn't know, he just wants the power, whatever happens after that it's a problem for another day.
The first one that Kid stop helping is Jaqueline, because she's getting advice from a witch (Kim) who's almost a personal enemy to Kid. Kim wants to gain the favor of her own kind, thinking that if she can control the New Sun she's gonna be accepted by them.
I don't have anything really specific for Kilik and Maka, but i feel like Kilik would be one of the favorites and probably the last one standing along with Black Star. I see Kilik as someone who would understand what being the New Sun really means, he would understand that he needs balance before everyone else. If i really make something out of this someday, i would make Kid get conflicted between his personal interest and what is apparently best for the world, trying to decide if he should keep helping everyone (specially Black Star) or just focus on Kilik.
Writing this, i think Maka would see the whole ascension thing as a sacrifice, to guide her people and be the New Sun, she needs to sacrifice herself and her own happiness. And maybe that's what would make her get out of the path and abandon the possibility of being a God at the end.
