I am a dual watcher of Aimseytv and Infinitedrift during the flight smp.

Usually I respect both chats opinions about the characters and feel like they are in their right to think what they think. However, during todays stream it was bothering me. So I wanted to take this oppertunity to put some things in perspective as someone who knows what is going on on both sides without having a bias towards any of the two characters because i love them both sm.

Also remember this is not about the awesome content creators and i’m not gonna dig at specific people, this is more a general message. If i have any information wrong, please respectfully correct me so I can edit this post!

During tf!Drift’s and tf!AJ’s talk in the last stream, I noticed people absolutely not being happy with how tf!AJ approached tf!Drift. I felt like people in chat were (rightfully so) getting defensive over tf!Drift and I would fully understand that if it weren’t for the fact that some reflection has stopped me from joining in.

Yes, AJ is not a healthy character to be in a relationship with, whether it be platonic, romantic (or whatever the fuck is going on between these two), but when you (i’m addressing the you as the general audience, and not YOU you) think that tf!Drift should walk away from her because of her lies, the dancing around the important questions, and the bad habits, I feel like you lack a critical reflection process:

Tf!AJ and tf!Drift both hold so much important info secret from each other. And both have bad habits: Tf!AJ tends to hide her own issues away and bottle them up, tf!Drift distances herself the moment it gets hot beneath her feet. Let me put it in perspective (this will obviously contain spoilers for both pov’s):

Tf!AJ’s secrets in relation to tf!Drift (that we as an audience are aware of):

1. Her decay magic (which almost killed tf!Drift canonically)

2. Her real name

3. The crypt and what it did to her

Tf!Drift’s secrets in relation to tf!AJ (that we as an audience are aware of):

1. Her background (which is what tf!AJ and the rebels are fighting against)

2. Her real name

So, you see, they both have major secrets that they are keeping especially looking at the fact that they are very close. Tf!Drift deflects just as much as tf!AJ does. In this specific stream I feel like some chatters completely ignored the fact that tf!Drift has been actively distancing herself from tf!AJ, and tf!AJ had witheld multiple pieces of information. They both made it very hard for each other to understand one another and are both equally responsible for the miscommunication that has happened.

So to say that one deserves better or more than the other has to offer, feels very unfair to me. If you don’t like the ship, thats is so fair and so reasonable, but if you don’t support it because you dont see the bigger picture or see it from both sides, i really want to ask you to consider watching both pov’s before swearing off a whole plotline and arc.

I do want to address as well that it is clear that both characters do care about this relationship. Tf!AJ has approached tf!Drift and urged her to actually communicate is honesty (lowk failed that but an attempt was made on both sides) while tf!Drift was willing to listen and consider her feelings from the happenings of the last few days. Tf!AJ has also said that she is prepared to change her ways for tf!Drift and tf!Drift has set boundaries. So in that regard i feel like the two characters have acted well enough
