In DnD, rogues for example are typically faster, and fighters tend to be stronger and more difficult to kill, and so usually can withstand more. What would be ways for other classes to counteract or outplay a mage in this world?
so while we are inspired by DnD and other rpgs, we are not exactly based on it, so there are differences. in our verse, magic is done through chants. you can read more of that on our MAGIC page. this leaves the chanters ( or mages ) vulnerable when they haven’t finished their chants yet, which is why they’re usually placed in rearguard position in battle formations. in a one on one battles, i would think that anyone with greater speed ( this includes shadow and ranger class ) would be able to do some real damage to mages especially when paired with guardian class, which does have high defense and can act as a tank to absorb the mage’s attacks.

they can be that ! they can also be a wild mage, so not tied to the spire ( but it is criminal so be careful about who you reveal it too ! ). they can also be a rogue class if you want, and aided with potions etc made by alchemist and mages which can be purchased either from the spire or the black market !Â

it’s the same repercussion to victorian era where women’s ankles were showing. completely shocking, scandalous, VERY frowned upon and reflects badly on their family and their upbringing. traditional origins aside, it is impractical, yes. that’s why only high borne people can afford to do it and hence why it’s a symbol of high status and respectability. for example, the feet binding in ancient china was only commonly done for high borne ladies because working class people have to work. those huge skirts marie antoinette wore ? i don’t think working class ladies could afford wearing them, expenses aside, because you can’t work in that. kim kardashian wears high heels at every hour of every day but we can’t do it, because we have to work and take the bus to get to places. you get the idea !
just to add, noble men also falls to this practice when travelling. for your second question, i would suppose house aerddyd given their occupations as the amber knights. however even then, during their time off work ( in functions and in their everyday lives ), they still follow the custom and tradition.

sorry for the late response ! when it comes to the structures of neighboring countries, you have free range. the only thing you cannot do is make whatever country your character comes from have a monarchical structure. so no monarchies, basically !
