like u could see the crazy cracks forming in the show because of how bad season 2s finale was but you know course correction i think was still possible but that was in fact the first important veering off the cliff and literally nobody has had a character motivation that made sense ever since the twist non twist of the trial

the shows obsession with twist endings is really proving its downfall in some ways like the twist from the expected ending in season one being that like louis kills lestat instead of claudia something i have mixed feelings about on a claudia characterization angle but i think worked really really beautifully for the guilt and pain for louis' character and the fact he couldnt truly destroy his body to be the great betrayal for claudia was all really interesting character work to take the expected ending somewhere a little different and the reverberations from that were felt meaningfully throughout season 2 and were central to the breakdown in claudia and louis' relationship but we have to do this again i guess change the well constructed and plotted and again like i feel this must be said deeply evil and fucked up motivation of armand to kill claudia to supposedly free louis to be with him while also freeing him from his coven its very neat and makes a lot of sense and is again a totally evil thing to do!!!! so trying to make it more evil by meaning to also kill louis and want to stay with his coven yet spending 70 years with louis and his coven dead becomes totally incomprehensible like what....... and the fact it feels like this was entirely motivated by the fact they couldnt comprehend characters loving other people ever in their hundreds of years of life so that if louis and armand ever had a real love that would be too undermining of lestat i guess its just its maddening!!!!!! things have to mean things!!!!! and now we are just like finally picking the threads of the trial up in fucking episode 4 only to throw even more twists in that make even less sense like great yippee
