Britains Got Reggae. Heat 2. I was really looking forward to this event. Last years BGR competition was legendary. I was there in support of my friends @bgreggae event organiser Cyrlene Braithwaite & @claireangelmusic winner of last years competition now on the judges panel, and doing a great job too Claire 😊 Special guest on the night were Grammy award winning Morgan Heritage @morganheritage who performed 3 songs and lit the room up literally (camera phones came out like bam! Lol) Oh and special shout out to the Soul Rebel Band you guys are tight and your bass player! 👏👏👏 Hootananny, Brixton: Tickets on the door £3 then a thorough but friendly security search. Big up the security on the night they got banter lol Outside had a barbecue and Marquees. Inside is pretty big and feels old, like the Tavern, Liverpool. Music history old. Two decent sized bars separated by swing doors. BGR was held in the main bar. The floor made up of brick slabs (be warned ladies wear comfy shoes) Toilets were clean but need a blow air dryer or paper towels! The crowd on the night reminded me of Nottinghill Carnival an eclectic mix of free spirited people who love Reggae music and want to Party. DJ on the night smashed it with tune after tune! Thanks to my beautiful sister for keeping me company tonight love ya x Drinks: a round 1 Rum and fruit punch, 1 white wine spritzer £7. Parking no problem after 6.30pm outside is double yellow but there's lots of side streets close by. (at Hootananny Brixton)

J.O.Y Live from Salon Noir Showcase: There aren't enough superlatives to describe J.O.Y she has a gift that's pure. From the first note J.O.Y played on the piano the room knew they were witness to a very special talent. Originally a 3 song set extended to 5 J.O.Y amazed and delighted the audience with her accomplished music and then there's her voice!That wonderful HUGE powerful voice! Stunning. There you go a great superlative for J.O.Y and fitting for this future star. Big shout to James and Sam @livefromsalonnoir event organisers on the night and absolute gentleman. Never phased when performers cancelled last minute kept the event running smoothly. See you soon guys. L'escargot: This is a year of firsts. I'm a London boy and spent my teenage years in the arcades of soho and music stores on Denmark street, but never visited until this showcase. The place oozes charm & history. Dinning downstairs. 3 floors to the top for the showcase. Free admission or £10 entry gets you 2 free drinks. Once upstairs the room is tight and cosy. Looks like you can squeeze in 50 guests. A mix comfy 3 seat, 4 seat sofas dining chaos & tables. A skylight gives a wonderful view that's just adds more ambience. Almost magical. Short bar that's well stocked. Drinks: A round of house white wine & single rum and coke came to £11.00 The bar staff were pleasant. Bank Holiday & the work never stops! The artist Luci Monet @luci_monet the place Zigfrid, Hoxton. Performance ..check. Talent.. check. The room loved her! Never phased when things didn't run 100, always in complete control. Luci is impressive. Dropped three killer songs & didn't need to perform her hit single to be hands down the highlight act on the night. Bravo Luci 🔥🔥🔥 Zigfrid: First time here. The place is split in 2. Street level and a downstairs area where the showcase took place. Entry took longer than necessary. Men get get a security search, women get a pass! Once inside its quite lovely. A nice sized dance floor and bar. There's seating of single seat comfy leather chairs, foot stools and dining booths. The crowd is young, energetic and up for a good time. Only 1 bar staff! My rounds came in at £26 for Double white rum and pineapple x2, a bottle of water & a Heiniken (bottle) (at Zigfrid von Underbelly of Hoxton)

Once again Old Fashioned Live @oldfashionedlive (The Queens Head, Islington) put on another energy filled, amazing show packed with a non stop flow of entertainment, top talent & outstanding performances. How do you guys do it!? The atmosphere is near electric! Highly recommended for an evening of high quality music, chilled atmosphere and fun night... and the bands pretty tight too! 😊 Food: This was my third visit to The Queens Head and the first time I've eaten there. The staff are friendly and pleasant. You have to order your food at the bar. Food is then brought to your table. Quick took about 20mins from Oder to arrival. The menu is non fancy pub grub, we ordered a Royal with Cheese burger, fries, cheese fries and Buffalo wings.
