exhausted. arielle felt exhausted. three hours of sleep usually had that effect on you, but she wasn’t about to take a break; no. she had more important things to do. arielle was completing her dare today, so after three cups of coffee ( each enhanced with half an energy shot ) she grabbed her belongings and headed out the door.
there was some time left before she had to meet with elena and zola, so she went to the café just down the street and started working on a small task from school. whilst she wrote on her notebook her mind started to run wild with the hundred of possibilities of what could go wrong in her dare. she hated what she was about to do but if she wanted to stay in school she would have to go through it.
after a while longer she grew tired of homework and started packing her bags to head out, two hours left until she had to go meet the girls. if there was a way out... but there wasn’t and there was nothing she could do to change the destiny she forced on herself. @ncahp
it was a complete coincidence when noah spotted arielle walking into a café just as he was headed back from nadir’s place after another tutoring session. noah hadn’t really thought about how he was going to complete the task he’d reluctantly accepted from nerve. arielle was more winnie’s friend than anything, and so noah felt a bit awkward about the whole thing. he wasn’t a player. in fact, this was the first time today he’d even left the safety of his apartment. arielle —with her reckless dares growing rasher by the day, and the way she was so far out of noah’s league he might as well have been an alien — kind of scared him a little. ‘course, just thinking that made noah quite angry with himself. fighting the urge to become old, small-town noah from high school again had been noah’s biggest struggle when coming to new york. just the idea that a girl might scare him enough to do something that he’d told himself he would do, was enough to make him follow arielle abruptly into the café, a defiant set to his jaw.
as soon as he entered, noah felt the familiar pang of anxiety at being in a crowded, small, public space. he quickly walked over to where he’d spotted arielle, straightening his t-shirt on the way in a very noah sort of way ( clumsy yet with a hint of self-righteousness ). meanwhile, he tried to pretend like he didn’t feel as if everyone in the room was looking at him. “ reyes, we gotta talk, ” he said when reaching her, as if they’d been planning to meet all along. feeling a bit too forward, he added, “ didn’t really plan to do it here but, i saw you outside and... er, i figured the sooner the better. ” he remained standing, feeling the tip of his ears start to grow pink. they were still in that awkward stage of a relationship where you’re neither friends nor aquaintances. noah, being ridiculously bad with social situations, was a bit worried he might accidentally slip and say something offensive. he figured that might be a bad idea, considering how he was supposed to seem convincing when he told arielle the news.
