jackson wasn’t lurking and trying to listen in, no, but it was hard not to overhear with supernatural hearing. he rolled his eyes when stiles started griping again, jaw set as he went about tossing the leftover chinese containers from their lunch into the trash. it gave him an outlet for his anger, rather than smashing the pumpkins that stiles coveted. when he was feeling a bit calmer he entered the room again, holding his hand out for the knife before tackling the pumpkin again. this thing would be a jack o’lantern by the end of the night, even if it KILLED him.  he refused to live in a world where  S T I L E S  was better than him at something! 

     ❝  you were always the smart one. ❞

           he pauses -- knife in hand as he slowly turns towards stiles. the pumpkin stands behind him, it’s lopsided smile a cautionary tale for anyone unfortunate enough to get anywhere near the aforementioned knife.  ❝ i don’t see you carving them.  ❞ he points out, scowling as his eyes flash blue for the briefest of moments.  ❝ so either shut up, or do it yourself. ❞ with a huff he throws the knife down in a dramatic fashion, the blade piercing their dining room table as he moves to storm out. it won’t be the first time - nor will it be the last. 

        ❝ whose fault is that?❞

          ❝ i don’t remember asking for your input. ❞  he pauses from where he’s been carving what looks to be the most lopsided smile a jack-o-lantern has ever seen, the pumpkin itself BRUISED in several places. stiles had asked him to pick up pumpkins days ago and he’d conveniently forgotten. by the time he got to the store. these two were the only ones left.   ❝ just shut up and carve it, would you? ❞ 

        he’s covered in dust. why is he covered in dust? oh right, they’d all been temporarily turned to stone. how FUN.  it’s by accident that he runs into derek, a hand pressing against a flat chest as he pushed himself back. while he might not   F E A R  the former alpha the way he might have years earlier, they’ve never been on the easiest of terms.  ❝ i didn’t expect to be welcomed back with open arms, but THIS isn’t what i had in mind. ❞  his brows raise, amusement settled across his visage as he dusts himself off.    ❝ you know, grey’s never really been my color.  ❞   { @biittered }
