Heinrey, darling, you are doing amazing. Kosair and me are a match made in heaven. Rashta does deserve better. Also, fuck Sovieshu. main blog: @crispmarshmallow
A/N: A small fic that focuses on Navier with hints of Heinrey/Navier. Just something that I made to get back into writing. Oh, it’s a Modern AU again.
Navier sighed in relief as she heard Laura and Artina shuffle into the plush apartment and the door click shut. She didn’t need to worry about the paparazzi in the privacy of her dwellings. Or at least, she thought so, as the possibility of their invasion into her space crept into her head. After all, this apartment had been vacant for a couple of years.
“Artina,” Navier called out to her bodyguard as she carefully tossed the keys onto a counter, “sweep the apartment for bugs, please.”
“I’m already on it.” She felt her mouth tip upwards at that. No surprises there. Artina was always steps ahead of Navier when it came to Navier’s own safety.
“It looks exactly as we left it.” Laura surveyed the apartment, and so it did. Navier hadn’t visited this piece of her family’s real estate since her marriage to Sovieshu. Navier had always been a bit uptight. She was aware of the fact. However, there was a certain freedom to her spirit in the years she spent in the apartment as a university student.
Navier hummed in response as she ran her hand over the furniture in the living room - not a speck of dust since her family always kept their property in prime condition, regardless if inhabited or not.
“Exactly as we left it,” Navier repeated as her eyes caught sight of a picture on the mantle.
It was a picture of her with Sovieshu in their high school years - back when they were best friends and knew that they were destined and content to wed for the sake of their families. They were both dressed in their uniforms, Sovieshu’s arm around her waist with confident smiles on their faces.
“You want me to set that aflame?” Navier withheld a very unladylike snort at that question from Laura. Normally, Navier would dismiss the very suggestion, however, maybe the university days-apartment brought back the lost little recklessness that she had.
The picture reminded her of everything that went down with Sovieshu - that any happiness that they could have had was a lie. Rashta. Sovieshu almost landing Kosair in prison with false accusations to stop him from airing his affair to the media. Ergi taking up the case as a favour for Heinrey of Western Co. who took interest in it for less than noble reasons. Ergi representing her in her messy messy divorce whilst she and Heinrey worked day and night together to tip the balance in their favour. He would visit her at one of her parents’ estates to discuss the cases, with a different variety of tea each time because he knew how much she loved tea.
It reminded her of everything Heinrey and how Sovieshu ruined that with his insistent slander in the media - how she had been the one to cheat first with Heinrey. It ruined Navier’s inclination to be receptive towards Heinrey’s own obvious feelings. It caused her to reluctantly cut ties with him before she left for abroad to distance herself from the media frenzy and render her legal services to a little-known non-profit.
She remembered wondering if he had moved on as quickly as the media liked to portray. She knew that Heinrey cultivated his womanizer persona for a reason. But how much was truly a persona?
Navier mentally shook her head out of the memories. She wasn’t here for Heinrey, and that was a ship that sailed two years ago. She was here to help expand the non-profit’s operations whilst she sat on the board of her father’s company alongside Kosair.
She flipped the frame around and delicately retrieved the picture from the inside. “Burn the picture,” she said mildly, “and any others of the such in here. Leave the frames though, they’re vintage.”
Laura snickered and accepted the flimsy picture from her. Navier knew that she would find relish in the task.
Navier turned to the long glass windows as she was left alone by Laura and Artina. Dawn was only approaching since Navier had been careful to arrive in the city with the dark as her cover - less chance to be ambushed by the paparazzi that way. Only four people in the city knew of her return - Kosair, her parents, and an exec at the non-profit.
Navier decided that she missed this. She used to watch the sunrise in university since she was an early riser. Sunrises were so full of warmth and hope and new beginnings - everything that Navier needed in her life at the moment - and the chirp of a bird just added to the mystique that filled her.
She froze. Chirp of a bird? Navier stood in an apartment twenty floors above the ground in the middle of a city where there were little to no trees in sight.
Navier heard it again, and her heart stopped when she realized that it came from her pocket - a text alert she customized as a joke for someone she hadn’t spoken to in years. She reached into her pocket to pull out her phone, and was disgusted to realize that her palms were sweaty.
Navier rarely sweated.
She unlocked her phone and felt her heart start and a smile split her face as her eyes fell onto the notifications.

I’ve been seeing so many people theorizing that Prim’s name was the only one in the reaping bowl and I completely and whole-heartedly disagree. Prim getting reaped despite having her name in the bowl once is meant to show the cruelty of the games and the system. There is no guarantee that one will not be reaped—not even having the lowest of odds. That is the whole point. Katniss is not the “chosen-one”. Katniss was just a random girl who accidentally became more.
Okay, so I went down a romance novel spiral (you will not believe the shit that I have read) and I stumbled upon the Under the Oak Tree webtoon and it catapulted me back to comics and webtoons.
I’ll first read the webnovel of Under the Oak Tree ‘cause I have zero patience to wait for the webtoon to come back from hiatus.
However, after that, I’ll read Season Two of the Remarried Empress ‘cause I never read any of it after the Season One finale.
It’ll be followed by me reading Midnight Poppy Land, Subzero, Mejaz Regulus in the World as well ‘cause those were ones I started, but never stayed updated too.

Flash being the first person to approach Peter with the genuine intention of trying to comfort him after Uncle Ben’s death + the allusions to Flash’s incredibly abusive home life that manifests at school because he’s a kid who doesn’t know how to handle his emotions delivered all in four words = good fucking scene, great fucking understanding of both Peter Parker and Flash Thompson.
don't get me wrong, it's about time they show up to knock some sense to the people who - in the words of one of my mutuals - have an iq of a spoon, but they're nonsense themselves too. they're defending rashta's actions to the point that they vilify other characters for rashta's compensation. "navier doesn't care for the commoners unlike rashta" i'm sorry, what? i don't care if you're being a troll but that's offensive and wrong. it's shown many times that navier cares for her people, the thing is people are used to fl's that literally goes on revolutions and fights with their sword and fists, unlike on someone like navier who is quiet, reserved and much prefers to have less conflict but a good foundation throughout.
defend rashta and stan her all you want, i'll join you even, but don't go as far as shitting on other characters just to put her in a better light. especially if your statements are not true. you'll just end up looking like a fool.
YESSS. A lot of the hate towards Rashta is because of internalized misogyny BUT trying to defend her whilst baselessly shitting on another woman is just as misogynistic. Don’t let the patriarchy win, loves. We are better than that.
If you want to hate on someone, Sovieshu is right there. It’s that easy. He is the reason Rashta and Navier (both amazing women) are being pitted against each other.

What I mean by this is that a book may have “feminist” female leads who are strong, competent, complex, whatever, but how do they portray women just...existing in the world? Are there women in the background, or is the fantasy novel with its strong independent Action Girl protagonists set on a background of generic male soldiers, guards, councilors, shopkeepers, messengers, and wizard apprentices? Are minor characters ever women when there’s no particular reason for them to be? When women appear in the background of your story, do they have any unique qualities that hint at a complex picture we’re not seeing or do they slide seamlessly into Pampered Noblewoman, Prostitute and Vaguely Maternal Older Woman Who Runs A Tavern Or Something?
If your protagonist is a fighter or magic user, do you show other women in those roles? If your society is more relaxed about sex discrimination, have you built a world that looks like it?
Have you built a world where your female characters don’t all have to be The Best At Everything, or is almost every female character placed where she can be extraordinary next to a bunch of male counterparts? Are you comfortable letting a female wizard or warrior be average or unimportant, or does she have to be one of the most skilled and powerful of them all, able to match or best all the men around her? On the other hand, are you comfortable having a female wizard or warrior be indisputably the most skilled or powerful out of the wizards or warriors, without drawing attention to her gender, placing her in competition with men, or having her be an exception to the rule because she’s female?
Are you letting your female characters be mediocre and un-extraordinary? Your world is full of powerful sorceresses, fierce battle maidens and calculating noblewomen, but do women do things in this world other than be Exemplary and Great and Awesome? If you’ve established that women do business and fight, do you have female soldiers carousing at bars and vaguely dull female Evil Minions Of The Dark Lord bumbling around doing evil bidding and female apprentices slacking on work or is every background woman we see competent and controlled and intelligent and doing whatever it is she’s doing without error, whereas only men are allowed to be foolish, impulsive, mess things up, or just be shown unflatteringly during the couple sentences we know them? In other words, does the world show women being unapologetically human beings or are all your female characters basically making up for being women by not doing anything that would badly represent their gender?
In particular, if you’re trying to show a society with gender equality, that means the dark lord is willing to hire women who are bumbling idiots as guards, and not just that some female wizards climbed their way to the top and became As Good As Men because they’re so badass they can snap god like a bunch of uncooked spaghetti.

the fitness life is definitely not for me, just passed out in the middle of the gym after five minutes of working out and had the ambulance called on me
