they were saying he's a badly written character, and im not here to argue he's the best character ever in all of fiction cause he's not. his writing has flaws. but the "problems" they gave why he's a badly written characters are absolutely the worst points ever.

"the trans fem character is abusive to the female cast, thats misogynistic and transphobic" THERE ARE ONLY FEMALE CHARACTHERS!! who he's supposed to bully?! the man who forgets something happen 3 seconds later and the literal GOD of the world they live in!?!?

"he's racist cause he mainly bully gangle and zooble, the only black characters" how. is he supposed to know they are black?? like genuinely... and besides the point, he doesn't bully just them. did we watched the same finale?? he's literally shown traumatizing everyone around him, not just them

"he has the same backstory as ragatha but shes not evil like him so he's badly written" THATS THE WHOLE POINT OH MY GOD THE WHOLE POINT IS THIS. they were both abused by their family, but they were DIFFERENT kind of abuse in very obviously different kind of families. ragatha's mother was controlling and manipulative to shape her in the perfect form, meanwhile jax was very likely neglected and emotionally distant from her mother. VERY DIFFERENT SITUATIONS. I swear to god THEY ARE NOT THE SAME!! and if they were from the same background, why is it "bad writing" if jax is evil because of it?? are you aware there are different kinds of responses to trauma?? ragatha is a people pleaser meanwhile jax is deflective and aggressive, both real responses.

"his abuse on others means nothing. no one learns anything from it and theres no point to it" yeah. thats the point. what is this twisted idea that abuse have to mean something?? abuse IS pointless. no one NO ONE achive something from abuse. thats the point. he has done everything in his power to make everyone miserable as him and no one achived something from this, not even him

"he doesn't improve but we are supposed to have sympathy for him" you're right, he doesn't improve. in fact he gets worse. and we see how and why he gets worse. and no, you are not "supposed" to sympathize with him, I, too, still dont like him. but you're supposed to empathize with a human being who suffered all his life and understand why he hurt others WITHOUT forgiving all the awful stuff he did. are you supposed to think that gangle is a bad person cause she doesnt cry when jax does the equivalent of killing himself?? NO, that is a normal reaction to her abuser's death. you dont have to forgive him, you have to understand him and make sure what happened to him doesnt happen to anyone else. hes a lesson you learn from. recognizing that someone is deeply troubled doesnt mean forgetting and forgiving the bad things they've done. and yes, he should have apologized, but he didn't. I had someone who treated me awfully and never said im sorry about ANYTHING he did to me, but here I am, still alive and more happy than before cause if you wanna be happy you gonna make a change for yourself, not wait that someone will fix your problem for you. oh, guess what, THATS THE POINT OF THE FINALE!!! THEY FIND THEIR HAPPINESS CAUSE THEY ARE LIVING FOR THEMSELVES AND STOPPED WAITING FOR CAINE TO MAKE THE PERFECT ADVENTURE OR FOR SOMEONE TO GET THEM OUT OR FOR SOMETHING TO HAPPEN THAT STOPPED THE PAIN. we are fucked and we are fake and everything we do is meaningless?? NO!! cause YOU give things meaning!! SO YOU BETTER MAKE SOMETHING THAT MATTERS AND MAKE IT MATTER, FOR YOU AND FOR EVERYONE

god ive never been more angry about a rant account of tiktok that now. like- genuinely the worst opinion on the face of the earth. they literally understood NOTHING about what they just watched. I really hope it was a ragebait, but I dont think it was cause they turned off the comments and it was because "some of yall dont make any sense" bitch stfu you dont make sense. oh my god, I cant believe people are so dense

so i always thought that homestuck characters are really suitable for round pin badges, so i started sketching them and then they multiplied out of control and now i have 16 designs... so my new year resolution is to actually sell my art and start doing cons (the second part is more difficult to realize so maybe i can start from the first one?? maybe?? one day)

my favs are john, rose, equius and sollux. like- these four are EXACTLY like i thought them, but some other gave me some problems. for example i have never drawn eridan before this moment, so i didnt know how to portrait his beautiful smugness, still i think i did a fairly decent job, or i have problems drawing kanaya cause i imagine her so gorgeous that every single drawing i do i find it really ugly and not representing her the best way possible. its impossible to represent Mother Kanaya's glory.

in total i spent like- 10h on this and i'm really proud of the end product. my goal was to make them easily recognizable and very vibrant, full of color, and seeing them on this post like this makes me really happy i reached that feeling. at first i wasn't sure that shading them would work, but after i did rose i found out the optimal minimal shading to do to make the shapes pop out more, like rose's bangs or eridan's hair swoosh. i then had a hard time AGAIN when choosing if putting highlights would look good, so i made them colored to make them more cohesive with the backgrounds, as if their hair is reflecting the back light or somtg.

anyways, while drawing i forgot to check the dimensions for the bleeding line, so i was doing the art too small for the pins and i had to correct some of them, especially karkat and nepeta. after i checked the lines and proportions were correct i completed all of the illustrations that missed pieces at the corners. if only i remembered to do that from the start i would have saved myself like 3h of work total ugh but alas im an idiot, so what can you do about that.

also dont say it, i know that every image have a single line of pixels on top I KNOW i just dont wanna save 16 images AGAIN, it sucks. such a pain in the ass to do. so i wont do it again. the designs are fine, you can see them properly so its not a relevant problem.
