Plexiglass Painting
I was having a hard time with this painting, but i think it still turned out really nice. I did my painting base on an anime called Sk8 the infinity. These character are the easiest to draw from what i can think of doing.
Plexiglass: Research Post
Jen Sievers
A collection of abstract shapes and strokes within each piece aims to express joy, vitality and movement through the use of many bright, contemporary colors. Jen takes advantage of each color owning a diverse texture and consistency; combined with the transparency of PERSPEX® acrylic, this highlights increased depth in each piece. Jen applies this technique in her portrait work too, creating a mood that represents each character she features. Her inspiration originates from her upbringing in South Africa, but also captures diverse cultures from across the world including Indonesia and Mexico, as well as her current location: New Zealand.

Discordant Painting
I was having a hard time with the tone color for this painting but I'm glad the green and the purple are a little bit close to one another.
These are my color swatches for the shape collage, the highlighted colors in the grayscale photo are the colors that I used, as I previously mentioned I wish I had let the colors fully dry, rather than touch dry before completing the assignment. Though, making these colors was still fun!
Good job getting the tones right!!

Abstract Paper Collage
I spend most of my day trying to find paper that i can use but i come up empty handed today. So I used Canva to help me with the Collage. I want to do something simple but show some form of meaning or figure with the shapes I used. Hopefully you guys can also help me choose which one to go for.
Research Post: Bridget Riley
* Bridget Riley *
Today in class when giving example of different artist and their work in discordant abstract painting using masking. The artist Bridget Riley was the one that really got my attention so within the research to see more of her work these where my favorite.
I noticed that she tends to have the same pattern in her art but it still works really well.
This is the process of my found image collage. Even though I had a general idea of the color pallete that I wanted, as I was painting I began to add more colors that I felt would work well, and it ended up coming out better than expected.
You did an amazing job is choosing the colors for this piece and the details are beautiful. Good work!

Research Post: Peter Doig
Peter Doig is a contemporary Scottish artist, celebrated as one of the most important representational painters working today. His paintings are characterized by their equal focus on both landscapes and figures, melding art historical and personal references into painterly abstractions with distinctive compositions. By forming powerful and affecting snapshots of contemporary existence—such as a childhood ski trip or an orange canoe—Doig’s works are both diaristic and universally relevant. Fiercely eclectic, his practice shares no central formula, and instead functions as part of a whole that provides insight into his personal history and political ethos. “I'm not trying to make paintings look like photos,” he has said of his process. “I want to make paintings using photos as a reference, the way painters did when photography was first invented.” Born on April 17, 1959 in Edinburgh, United Kingdom, his family relocated to Trinidad in 1962 for his father’s job and later to Canada in 1966. Doig moved to London in 1979 where he studied at the Wimbledon School of Art and later received his MA from the Chelsea College of Art and Design in 1990.

Hey class I made this quick video to give you an idea of how to make a collage with Krita. It covers the basic commands to help you get started. If you have any questions- ask away.
This isn’t the entire process just the basics needed
This is so helpful! thank you so much for sharing this!

I want my painting to be filled with life and death. The door in the middle is from the collection and would be the portal that let things come and go in the middle of the road within a deep forest.

Research Post: Lilian O’neil
During class Lilian O’neil work catches my attention right away. So I looked up more of their work and this one is my favorite. The color scheme matches each other every well. Each image from what i can see, seems to represent different time era which really makes the images pop out.

Transparency
~ My Transparency Painting ~
As i was doing the painting I have come to the realization that i have forgotten to prime it with a coat of gesso so i had to paint it over and over so that was really annoying but I still like it even though I know it could have been better.
Color What You See
*The color I see*
The object I used was my rag that I have been using to paint. It was the only think i can think of using that my mom would have been ok with me painting on. This was a lot harder than I thought but i think i got really close to it.
