We sit down with director Tomoki Kyoda for a rather candid chat about his work on the Eureka Seven franchise and it's recent series of films.

Reading this is quite eye-opening to say the least. It honestly makes me reconsider what I once thought of Kyoda and gives me a lot of dread for Hi-Evo 3.

I’ll be honest: Kyoda comes off in this interview as pretentious, bitter, and cynical. I get that he’s 15 years older now, but holy fuck, he’s such an asshole in this interview. It makes me second-guess my respect for him. To think I had him sign my DVD at Otakon, too.

that was a really hard thing to read, what on earth is going on in Kyoda’s mind with these movies? i was already losing respect for him, but now i don’t even like him at all, i have no faith in this franchise anymore.. OTAQUEST: Were you left dissatisfied? KYODA: Now, you’re leading us towards a sensationalist sort of write up. That’s not journalism. And it’s been a habit of reporters in Japan for too long, I think. Thus I have no obligation to answer that /wrists
