ancient creatures beneath the water,

swim, quietly, like the deities that they ignorantly search for.

unknowing to the fact that you’ve been there all along,

prehistory written in your very cartilage and skin.

there are so few of you now,

for as a deity, you are killed by mortals,

as a thing of beauty, you are hunted for your resources.

we humans, selfishly acting like we own your spirits, your skin;

the meat in your bodies, the very roe in your ovaries.

and now, you are a dying race.

the history and years you represent, lost and quickly fading.

so swim, spirits, ancient deities,

swim and lie in wait for the cut of the knife and the farmer’s cruel hands.

you are too pure for this earth, to ethereal for these lands,

and we never deserved you.

Basically, people are using their key fobs to set off their car alarms when they see ICE.

This is effective for several reasons:

Obviously, it alerts everyone that something is wrong. Given ICE has been terrorizing Minnesota, people are likely to immediately know it is ICE. This gives people time to flee or barricade themselves in their homes.

ICE loses the element of surprise.

stop buying into the idea that nonviolent activism is useless, rather than (by far) the most effective form of protest

stop falsely claiming that BLM accomplished nothing and that most citizens “don’t care” when people are murdered by the state

start understanding that most of your neighbors care about your rights, and their own
