In the original story, Aladdin was set in China (but little enough was known about China that far west at the time that it ends up feeling like the Middle East anyway). Has anyone done an adaptation of Aladdin that's actually set in China, correcting for accuracy?

Not sure if I would like it better if they substituted the djinn for something like a Chinese yaoguai, or if that remained the one thing still from the Middle East. He could even be from Ur itself, to emphasize how long he'd been in there

it does still make me insane specifically how many queer people lovingly embrace astrology. I went to a poetry workshop yesterday that was genuinely quite good but also included an option to disclose astrology designations during introductions and so many people broke out some variation of "I'm a [x] sum but I have a [y] placement and it SHOWS" girl no it doesn't. that's meaningless correlation you completely invented the causation

I'd say that rejecting biological determinism in favor of space gas determinism isn't the slay the astrology queers think it is but if I'm being completely honest I fear that many members of our community haven't even really rejected biological determinism so much as sprinkled a layer of glitter on it

i want the ability to instill disparate concepts onto animals (the concept of houses, warts, midnight, etc) and like spend an afternoon throwing one concept at a time into a boar's brain and see how long it would take before you see the boar become visibly distressed as it starts connecting ideas together but has nothing to do with them

boar has learned about the concept of alimony at 2:39pm. boar understands alimony is connected to marriage (learned at 12:02pm) but doesn't know what divorce is yet. boar has conceived of the idea of truffles (knowledge intrinsic) being divested from him as a result of alimony but doesn't know how to anticipate or avoid it. boar has begun loudly grunting and tamping its hooves.
