Teaching post-grad courses at UCT, that continuous freelance hustle, growing my business with @artist.admin, podcasting with @badformpodcast, getting into a regular exercise regime with my personal Jane Fonda @fiance_knowles, planning a wedding with, and then marrying my forever main squeeze @ben_rausch, touring all over Japan with @alexeiexela and @jrelvis, honeymooning in Hakone and Tokyo, getting home to the anticipation of the very first @playtopia_fest, where @byjono caught this greasy haired, sleep-deprived mug. I kind of love load-shedding. For those of you not familiar with the term, it’s a thing in South Africa where we take turns to not to have electricity for about 2 and a half hours of the day. It’s happened because our infrastructure has not been updated to carry demand...for both historical and political reasons. Anyways, it’s a thing. So today, a couple hours ago, the power went out. My data and battery life are low, so despite the work-panic-urges, I’ve been forced to plug out of stuff, find things I can do offline, and reflect back onto the real world. I’m busy cleaning my studio and find all the remnants of the last 6 months which have bullet-train-ed right past, every major milestone a race to the next. Graduation, Wedding, tour and honeymoon in Japan, @playtopia_fest. And now a forced moment of calm before the Christmas rush. I’m so grateful for my life and the people in it. For the ability to be creative and gaining value from the creativity of our community. Thanks loadshedding.
