Aint this daddy-daughter duo the cutest darned thing you ever did see?
The Kinks - Sunny Afternoon
It's almost June, and I'm lazing on a sunny afternoon like it's the summertime. Somehow a sunny winter's afternoon is far more magical.
Nana nights in
I admit it. I am at home, all alone, on a Saturday night. Some might say I have Nana syndrome. Whether it be due to tiredness, the cold winter night bite or simply a hangover from partying too hard on a school night... we all get Nana syndrome every now and then.
Many good things can come from an evening snuggled up sipping hot cocoa, watching old movies and pissing about online, and tonight I stumbled across a brand-new website called Noisey.com. This website allows you to attend live gigs across the world via an online video channel. Forget Lady Gaga live broadcasts via MTV, these are real underground gigs. You can watch indie band The Flats play 100 Club in London, girl-band Hedgehog play a gig in Beijing and “scummy punk” band Nothing play a club in Berlin. It’s a great way to experience new music from across the world, without relying on your usual outlets like press, local gigs or a friends recommendation.
So grab a tinnie, slip on your dancing shoes, and slide onto your sofa. Nana-nights-in just got cool.
Betty White: Most Appealing Person In America
Last Golden Girl-standing Betty White has topped the Most Appealing Celebrity list ahead of Sandra Bullock and Robin Williams, according to a poll run by E-Poll Market Research. The 89 year-old soared to popularity as the star of the Snickers Superbowl ad (which even aired here in Oz) and as co-host of Saturday Night Live in 2010. She played ditzy Rose in '80s sitcom Golden Girls, and today is the last surviving cast member. Go Betty!
I'm not sure what Coco Chanel is doing in this photo... telling the photographer how to do his job? You can tell she wasn't an easy lady to please - but perfection doesn't come without a little bit of fuss.

Ruth Flowers: DJ
Why would you sign a contract with a nursing home when you can sign a contract with a record label? When 70 year-old Ruth Flowers attended her grandson's birthday at a nightclub in London five years ago, the trained singer (who previously favoured church songs over electro) was so taken by the party that she decided then and there to become a DJ. Her grandson put her in touch with French producer Aurelien Simon who taught her how to spin. Flowers then spent four years learning how to how to work the timetables, sprinkling her techno sets with tunes from Abba, Queen and the Rolling Stones. Under her DJ alias 'Mamy Rock' she now rocks dancefloors across London, Paris and New York; including Cannes Film Festival two years on the trot, and parties for Karl Lagerfield, Johnny Depp and Mariah Carey. She is officially sponsored by ADIDAS and recently released her own single, 'I'm Still Rocking'. Ruth Flowers, you totally rock.

“1979: We were all horrified when thirteen-year old model/actress Brooke Shields stuck out her rather large tongue at the photographers at this Blondie party held at Fiorucci in Beverly Hills. This is exactly what the magazine editors wanted: an animated photo of a famous rock star and an international celebrity. The photo was published dozens of times all around the world; and of course, the Japanese went nuts over it. I see Gene at my local deli from time to time.”

One can only hope this is how the Olsens look in 40 years.
Robert Smith
If there's anyone who's stayed true to their individual style through the decades, it's Robert Smith of The Cure. Since the band released their first album, Three Ordinary Boys in 1979, it's been a simple formula: black clothes, black eyeliner, red lipstick and teased, wily hair. A key influencer of the Goth scene throughout the '80s, I doubt 52 year-old Smith has ever considered a red t-shirt or a slicked back ponytail. And lucky for us Sydneyites, The Cure has just been announced to play this year's Vivid LIVE within the walls of the incredible Concert Hall of the Sydney Opera House. Even better, it's been confirmed The Cure will ONLY play music from their first three albums. Which means we can expect all the gloom, torment and Post Punk/ New Wave/ Gothic Rock that made the world fall in love with The Cure in the first place. Tickets go on sale this Thursday May 12. Love you Robert!

Patti Smith
Long forlorn hair parted in the middle, a loose fitting t-shirt and a wide brim hat. It's the look that is totally on trend right now, but Patti Smith has been rocking it since year dot. In fact, she invented it. And at age 64, she continues to rock it. LOVE HER!

If I hadn't already said "I do" this would be my future wedding dress (with an under garment of course). I am head over heels for this dress from the Australian's label's SS11/12 breathtaking collection show titled "The White Serpent", as show at Rosemount Australia Fashion Week last night.
