Evie took the tube back and poured some out into her palms. Without hesitation, she moved over to help Nancy with her shoulders, rubbing the sunscreen in. “Sure, I don’t see why not. I haven’t really found anyone to hang out with yet, so I wouldn’t mind it. I’m Evie by the way.”

she grinned as evie helped, turning back to face her once she was done. “i’m nancy ! let’s go, evie.” the goth girl turned on her heels and started to head in the direction of what she hoped was the shops she saw. she was sure it was back this way. “so, where did you think you were going ?”

“You say nerd. I say animal enthusiast,” Marcus chuckled with a shrug. He couldn’t help himself whenever it came to animals. He spent his entire life loving them and learning about them that it was hard to stop him once his got going. “Yup… an ocean is probably our best bet. I have this lighter that came in this goody bag that whoever dumped us here gave us so we could probably do the whole fire thing.”

“I hear ya. I could talk for hours about witchcraft and deities, but i’ll spare ya.” Nancy didn’t talk about it really, not unless a fellow witch came to her to discuss it. She was sick of the looks she got, the names she got called. She was who she was, and believed in what she believed in. Where was the issue in that ? “I have a lighter too, we just need to find something to build a bonfire, and keep it going. Which means we need to build something to shelter it if it rains.” Wouldn’t need to, if her witchy ways were working. Nancy didn’t trust the other, but he seemed nice enough and she needed to find people to run with for when the going got tough. 

She handed the tube over to Nancy and nodded her head. “It’s not a problem. I mean given the situation, we have to look out for each other,” Evie said with a smile. “Just let me know if there’s any spots I can help you out with.”

“you wanna get my shoulders ?” Nancy grinned, after lightly applying the sunscreen to her legs and arms. “hey you wanna stick together ? we’ll go raid the mall, find some food and find somewhere to stay !”

“That sounds extremely useful. I haven’t even thought to start exploring yet,” Evie replied appreciatively. “I have some sunscreen here if you need any until we find more. Would you like some?”

nancy felt like a vampire burning in the sun, her skin wasn’t used to so much exposure. she didn’t like to take help, because what if that person then expected something in return and she didn’t want to deliver ? but she definitely needed it. “if you wouldn’t mind ? it’ll get painful soon otherwise. you get my back and i’ll get yours ?”

Marcus grinned widely at his opportunity to show off his knowledge. “Well, I think we’ll be safe from sand snakes here. Their natural habitats are generally in more dry and arid areas like deserts. India has a few specific breeds. Based on our surroundings, we’re probably not in India. Now eels… we could potentially see those. We shouldn’t have to worry about electric eels unless we’re in South America and in fresh water. I tripped in the water earlier, so I’m pretty certain this is salt water,” he rambled on excitedly.

𝐀𝐒 𝐌𝐔𝐂𝐇 𝐀𝐒 𝐒𝐇𝐄'𝐃 𝐋𝐈𝐊𝐄 𝐀𝐍𝐒𝐖𝐄𝐑𝐒, kory was discovering just how unlikely getting answers was going to be. every person she had spoken to seemed to be just as clueless as she was, despite how…unique everyone seemed to be. the girl nearest to her could definitely be describe as unique, but kory wasn’t focused on her for that reason. no, she had merely zoned out while planning her next move, even if it didn’t appear that way. “my apologies,” she was quick to say. “i am trying to sort what in x’hal is happening here.” certainly one couldn’t be too surprised that kory was close to losing her mind in such a situation. 

“I knew that this had to be too good to be true.” And small sigh rose and fell her shoulders as she looked around. At least the environment was pretty, for now at least but Rachel knew that it was only a matter of time before the other shoe dropped and they would find out why they were truly there. She shifted the backpack on her shoulder as she made her way down the street, paddle bare in her hand. 

Great. Just great. Jean had thought things in her life couldn’t get any worse, but this seemed to nip that in the bud real fast. She was promised a trip, to visit Charles, but she ended up here. He would surely come looking for her when she didn’t show up, right? Or was that all a lie too? At this point, she didn’t know what to believe as she wandered down the street with her bags in tow and the migraine lingering just on the edge of her head. 

“I really hope we’re not here for very long. I only brought enough sunscreen and aloe vera for a week and I thought there might be a store at the resort…” she said, pulling out one of her beach hats. Evie already felt her skin starting to burn up from the sun directly above her. “I should’ve packed more…”

Nancy found herself in a similar situation. She hadn’t even packed sunscreen, and all her clothes were b l a c k. She was very warm, but managed to strip down to a vest top and a pair of shorts she found. Her pale skin would punish her for it though. “I saw what looked like a real beaten up shopping mall. Might be able to find some in there ?”

Sure, this wasn’t the animal safari that he had promised, but this wasn’t the worst location in the world. Marcus had hauled his raft around the beach before he found himself settled. It was an island vacation, so at the very least, he could attempt to enjoy himself. It wasn’t like he had ever been able to experience the beach before. He took off his shirt and shoes and lounged in the water. “Oh yea… this is not so bad. The water’s great,” he hummed to himself.

                     DID SHE ACTUALLY NEED TO ASK? as she stood there rambling like a loon about magic and whatever other bullshit. his head began to shake as he shifted his jaw and his tongue darted across his lips for a moment. “ you…. obviously. “ he stated as he looked at her a little more intentionally before shaking his head and looking away. “ you sound ridiculous. “ he stated quickly as he cleared his throat.

Before everything, they were a STUDENT/WITCH. The reason this NINETEEN year old won a trip to BROCKEN is because they’re DEDICATED, but who gives a flying fuck about those traits? “Don’t worry. I will help you find her. There is only so many places to hide before you have to come out and play.” Marceline suggested. If she couldn’t do anything then she might as well have fun and Nancy has been the most fun to come. “That’s true, I still love what I did though. I had a whole band at one point. The Femme Fangs… but we separated.” She said with a shrug knowing it was all her fault. “I played bass.”

A grin spread about her lips as Marceline offered to help, looking forward to the chase for the rotten Darling. “I mean, could you not just pluck with your pinky-less hand instead ?” Nancy asked, shrugging. She didn’t play an instrument, she didn’t understand the attachment or see why it was such a big deal. “The Femme Fangs is a badass name, how come you separated ?”
