I'm attending school now. A real, physical, in-person one with classrooms and everything (for those that are not aware, I was homeschooled for most of my entire life).

I'm really busy these days, and by busy, I mean kinda overwhelmed with being dropped back into an environment where the people there aren't only my immediate family members with real schedules and shit.

I've taken a break from drawing too, there's no deeper reason, I'm just not in the mood these days. Waking up in the morning is still a pain and a dread every day I have a class that's main medium of language is Filipino.

Yes, I still can't speak my own mother tongue.

Yes, I'm very ashamed of this fact.

But there's no point on dwelling on those feelings. So, meh.

Oh, and my mental health has never felt this stable in years. And I'm not exaggerating. Who knew touching grass, talking to people IRL, having a sense of structure in your day to day life and feeling the sun on your skin could do such wonders for your health? Not me.

So, what's my YHSR (short for YHS: Redintegrare) AU about you ask? To put it simply, it's my personal attempt at a YHS rewrite & redesign!

personally i’m a fan of toxic wlw ships and with funnelyn being my favorite ship i find it fun to play around with because of their personalities and the way they interact during the series lol

Omg I'm so glad you asked Anon! So glad in fact, I crawled out of indefinite hiatus just to yap about this!

Personally, I really like the idea of them being freaks for each other lol. They don't seem like the type of couple to get married. These two seem like the types to hate the feeling of being chained down, but at the same time don't seem like they'd be adverse to the possibility of getting married either.

Maybe as a last resort, and for the sake of coming up with an AU scenario, like if Evelyn were to get fed up with all arranged marriage proposals she keeps receiving because of her family's wealth, she asked Funneh to marry her to get people off her back, I doubt they'd hate the idea too much.

Like yeah, it sucks things had to come to this but it's not the end of the world. If anything, I imagine they would be a rather cute married couple. But that's just my speculation.

Also, speaking of toxic wlw ships, this kinda reminds me of the time I was coming up for ideas for my YHS Redintegrare AU, I considered the idea that after Evelyn almost gets killed by Yumi (this is roughly based on the "ending" by Kat La gave us) she goes through this sort of realization? Enlightenment? Something.

Basically she goes through a type of crisis that changes her mindset towards justice and seeking the truth. She goes from using her investigation skills as a means to gain admiration and praise from the masses, to complete laser-focus on bringing people to justice, no matter what it takes, even if it meant giving up everything: her reputation, her ethics (*looks at canon* bro what ethics) and, if pushed hard enough, her own life if need be.

Why does all of this matter you may ask? Well, considering all the stuff I just mentioned, I imagine her hypothetical romantic relationship (read: who am I kidding it's a situationship) with YHSR Funneh would not be sunshine and rainbows. Quite the opposite, really. So for the sake of this post, I'll be making the characters I already mentioned a lot worse, both morally and mentally, than what I actually have planned for them in YHSR, this is a scrapped idea for a reason. Also this post's Funneh (the YHS one) will go by Finney from this point onward, because I just don't feel comfortable calling her just Funneh, especially in this specific context.

Anyways, without further ado, have some headcanons and scenarios of YHSR Evelyn and Finney working together on the Valerie Maki case keeping this scrapped idea in mind (toxic yuri edition):

・ Headcanon: Evelyn sucks at creativity, like she's way too one-track-mind for that, and so views Finney's continued contribution to her investigation as a valuable asset as a result. To the point where she's willing to emotionally manipulate Finney as she deems fit, using Finney's guilt over being a bad friend to Valerie and desire to be a hero against her. But the one time Finney genuinely wants to help, without needing any external push, suddenly Evelyn is not okay with it because "it'd be too dangerous." Like, girl, at least be consistent.

・ Scenario: There's a dangerous place that needs investigating and Finney volunteers to check it out because of her familiarity with that specific area.

Evelyn disapproves, saying that Finney is way too rash for such a delicate task and they argue. It ends with Finney running out of the building with a livid but worried Evelyn tailing closely behind. Evelyn eventually loses Finney, because of there's anything that girl is for sure good at, it's running.

Many hours later, and Finney is back with the evidence. Mostly whole, emphasis on the mostly. She's injured and Finney is really regretting not not returning because the atmosphere is tense and Evelyn has said nothing the entire time. Silent treatment, if Finney were to guess. She'd break the ice but something tells her to keep quiet (fear, most likely). Evelyn probably thinks she's a liability now, useless even.

She's been bandaging her wounds for the past 50 minutes, and doing a poor job, because that's what has Evelyn menacingly walking towards her. She holds out a hand, silently demanding that Finney give her the bandage roll. Finney considers being annoying about it, before deciding to think better of it. Evelyn is pissed off enough as it is. 5 minutes later, and wow, remind Finney to never become go into medicine, if that's all the time she needed to-

Evelyn is hugging her.

That's. Unexpected. Finney curls up in Evelyn's arms, eyes feeling all wobbly and now she is sobbing, hard. Great.

"I just wanted to help. I promise." Finney says, or well, tries to, her throat is tight and wow, she must look pathetic if her cracking voice is anything to go by.

"Quiet, you fool." Evelyn says, her voice calm and soft unlike Finney's own and devoid of any emotion besides her usual practiced indifference, again unlike Finney's own. To the untrained eye, you might even believe that Evelyn was as unbothered as the way she acted. But Finney knows better, knows Evelyn, and she knows that Evelyn's voice goes soft when scared and worried sick.

・ Headcanon: Evelyn has a less intense form of moral moral scrupulosity (normalize giving your fav characters your problems frfr) which manifests as this unpredictability, bordering full-blown hypocrisy, to her. Her actions can go from domineering and controlling to honorable and benevolent, you really can't guess with her, but for better or for worse, Finney can and she's gonna help Evelyn find the killer whether she likes it or not.

・ Scenario: Too bad (or too good?) Finney can play this toxic yuri game too so she starts doing self sacrificial shit to piss Evelyn off and make Evelyn worry over her, simultaneously. Finney almost dies once and Evelyn brushes it off thinking it was just Finney being Finney again but nope, its real, and when Evelyn realizes she puts Finney under house arrest (w/ the combined help of Gold and Kyran). Finney feels conflicted about this, on one hand, she didn't even do it on purpose, what the hell??? on the other, hey at least Evelyn's not working on the case anymore, because now she's too occupied with making Finney doesn't do more stupid shit. That counts as a win, right?

・ Headcanon: I imagine them having major miscommunication, and hot-and-cold issues. Oh and jealousy, lots of it. *Cue clips of YHS Funneh acting like an almost stalker to Alec.* + her bad experiences with being repeatedly abandoned + the fact that Evelyn is risking her life the more time she spends on the murder case + Evelyn almost dying, and you get a girl with some bad separation anxiety. What's better (read: worse) than one freak with bad possessiveness issues?

It's because I love the thrill of discovery. The mystery of it all. This uncontrollable urge to know and then use that knowledge to fix. Like crack but for my maladaptive daydreaming instead of my bloodstream, I crave to understand and predict, to connect the dots and glue the pieces together.

And not so unlike an engineer, minus the heavy loads of math, I need stimulation for my problem solving skills. Something to satisfy this incessant craving to repair the imperfect. I already know how Falec as a relationship will pan out, I know what to expect and that bores me.

The same principle applies to my reading of fanfiction. What is one of the fandoms I'm reading the fanfics of at the moment? JJK. Have I ever watched JJK? Not at all, and guess what? I never will.
