I struggled with coming up with her design for some reason

Just saw this post on Instagram (Shout-out to roguegambit97) comparing Deathbit and Gambit and how they treat Rogue and holy crap- there are some major differences let me tell ya

Starting with Gambit. He's sweet, charming, playful and can be an absolute badass on the battlefield. When it comes to Rogue, he's absolutely in love with her. He'd do anything to keep her safe. He's never controlling, yes he may push boundaries playfully, but always respects Rogue's choices in the long run. No matter how much it hurts him.

Even when Kurt suggested in Genosha he should marry Rogue, Gambit still didn't want to pressure her into something she may not have wanted. He told Rogue himself in Genosha that he would wait for her.

But then there's Deathbit. Yes, he's still somewhat charming and absolutely DEADLY (pun intended) on the battlefield. But when it comes to Rogue? That respectful side of Gambit is gone. (I know he's somewhat possessed/corrupted by Apocalypse at this point, but just ignore that for now)

He's absolutely OBSESSED with Rogue, so much that it even scared Rogue herself. Because this wasn't the Remy she fell for. Deathbit is dangerously possessive of her, immediately kidnapping her and planning a wedding, not giving Rogue a choice at all. (Even going as far as kidnapping Kurt, because he doubles as a priest as well, I honestly thought that was kinda funny ngl 😂)

He immediately took matters into his own hands, not even hesitating when he sent the (undead?) Guild and Kurt on his own team. He killed that goddess lady (can't remember her name TwT) and forced that crystal upon Rogue without a second thought. That part actually scared me a bit ngl.

In the long run, Gambit and Deathbit are two sides of the same card.

I feel like when Gambit regains consciousness and is Apocalypse-free, he is going to be absolutely MORTIFIED on what he had done to Rogue while being stuck in the Deathbit persona.

Another difference, he ONLY cares about Rogue. Like, Kurt is his friend and he has no moral hang ups about possessing him and making him enter dangerous fights for his own gain. Same with the guild members (particularly Belladonna). Something 97 doesn’t touch on too much but the og series and comics do is that Gambit has a genuine care for his family and Bella, even when they’re on bad terms. I feel like him throwing all that out the window really shows how far his brain has been warped by Apocalypse/his resurrection.

YES I WATCHED IT LAST NIGHT!!! It was so tea I’ve been loving this season so much, I’m going to be so sad when it ends oml

Then immediately did a catified version of Deathbit afterwards. Working on a Rogue design now.

They just love playing with our emotions at this point 💔

Although it's probably my favorite of the entire season ngl

I had originally stopped watching X-Men 97 after Gambit died in the first season. But after I heard they were bringing him back in Season 2, I waited for that episode to come out then binge watched it all last night.

but damnn TwT

Other side note, I was originally thinking they were going to bring him back as the end of season cliff hanger and was NOT expecting this much content from him this season, I was so pleasantly surprised!

THEN SHE TRIED TO USE HER POWERS ON HIM BUT IT DIDN'T WORK CAUSE HE'S DEAD 💔

But no if they left that as the cliffhanger, I would've been PISSED honestly.

I immediately cried at the dream sequence at the beginning, they're just twisting the knife at this point 😭

Yesss It was so cool to see the guilds! I was actually really hoping they’d remember his family and Belladonna existed and do something with them for this plot line but didn’t think they actually would, so I was super happy to see that! I do feel bad for Kurt, he’s been such a supportive brother this season…but it was kinda fun to see him fight the other XMen like that lmao. OTHER side note, did you catch when he was talking to Rogue in I think the dinner scene, and he called her Bel once?? I’m still thinking on what that might have meant…

Catified Gideon! Even at the very start of my Cat AU, I've imagined him to be a Persian cat.
