Exactly! I said it ln another post: Here it is
Unpopular opinion but Kate had it worse than Harry's wife but many aren't ready for that conversation. The only difference is that Kate never said anything publicly about what went through. Let's take a trip down memory lane:
Kate started dating William when she was in her late teens/early 20s. The media weren't kind to her at all, constantly criticising her, her family especially her mother. She definitely went through a lot of classism from the press who constantly mocked her coal miner roots
Kate and William broke up in 2007. The media was practically gloating because they thought Kate was not good enough for William because she's not an aristocrat. She was "too middle class"
Kate and William eventually got back together and got engaged years later. You'd think the media would leave them alone but no... Totally bullying this young girl, who was in her mid 20s.
All the while, she was being stalked by paparazzis daily for years with no royal protection because she was just a girlfriend
But, but, but... haters will tell you that the palace started protected Kate after Kate and William got married and they never did so H&M. Did they? Calling their kids parasite, mocking her weight, linking her to women having abortions, calling her an exhibitionist, blaming her when a nurse killed herself after a prank by Australian hosts, while she was in the hospital, preparing to give birth, trying to get informations about Kate pretending to be the Queen, slammed for the renovations of KP, accusations of feuds between her and The Queen, Camilla and the York sisters, accusing about her family being social climbers. And mind you, Kate was married to William so there was no more excuse not to defend her. Did the palace release a statement to defend her? No, they didn't
In 2012, a topless paparazzi photo of her made it to the cover of a French magazine and it turned into a worldwide scandal. It was the first time that the palace came out and defended her. They sued and won
In 2014, it was revealed that Kate's phone was hacked 155 times during the time she dated William. The sued and won
Then, Meghan came into the scene. People can say what they want but the media definitely pitted the two against each other for the beginning, except Kate was the one getting the bad press while M was constantly being praised. You only have to look back at documentaries and articles from the moment her relationship with Harry was revealed to the press to the first 6 months into their marriage, the press was extremely positive. I've never seen a royal bride be so well received by the media, never. The media really praised her as a royal moderniser that would change the monarchy for the better. The Royal Family broke several traditions to make her feel welcome. In their own words, the family was extremely accepting.
It was Meghan, the beautiful, stylish, independent, breath of fresh air Hollywood star vs boring, traditional Kate
Yes, of course, Meghan had some negative press. Everyone in the family did. There was also three very clear instances that were clearly racist though: "the straight out of Compton article" which was written for the Daily Mail L.A, which makes sense because I'm pretty sure most people in the UK don't know what or where Compton is.
This is terrible but not everyone loves the RF. Anti monarchists have been going at Kate for years: Kate's children were called parasites when they were, the Daily Mirror had a cover with the headline that cocaine was found in her hospital room, while she was in the hospital giving birth to Charlotte, they mocked her weight, called her an exhibitionist,...
That article was immediately condemned by Harry and the media
The second instance was when someone involved in politics said something about pure blood. She was condemned
Then, the journalist that posted the photo of a monkey saying that it was H&M's baby was immediately fired.
As we are seen now with the Where is Kate saga, the RF do not and cannot control SM. Social media companies definitely have to do better but how is that the RF's fault?
Their popularity in the media started to change due to their actions. (The blood diamonds, the private jets, the bullying of their staff,...)
People will claim that the palace never defended Meghan but she wife was a royal for 17 months. During that time, KP released 17 statements defending her. Here are a few:
They've never defended Kate this hard. Never!
Meghan was the royal family for less than 2 years. The palace released 17 statements defending her.
In the first 2 years of her marriage to William, the palace only released 1 statement defending Kate. ONE, about the topless photos.
Even years after that, they barely defended her.
The difference is that unlike Meghan, Kate never complained (she easily could have)
Just because Kate had a few good years in the press (2019-), that doesn't erase everything she went through and even now, you have H&M crazy fans making up rumours about her health, her marriage, constantly attacking her kids, attacking her parents
I hate how people are trying to create the narrative that Kate had it easy as a royal.
