ok so I looked it up, and it turns out they made a track out of PVC pipes, down a hill. The owner didn't realise PVC expanded in the heat, so on a turn the track just fell apart and the dude inside went over a fucking free way and into a swamp.

The funniest part is that the inspector was watching the whole time, and once the ball stopped he left without saying anything. Park management just shut it down then and there.

The ball soared over the grass and smashed into several of them, scattering the others with rippling waves from the impact, which launched some of the boats several feet in the air.

Charlie and Ken waded into the water looking for the hatch. After some difficulty, they got it open. Charlie pulled Frank out by grabbing him under his armpits like a baby. Frank crawled up the bank, coughing and sputtering. He splayed across the grass as we all stared at the ball, which bobbed in the water like it was attached to a fishing lure.

We did not ask for the inspector’s report, nor did we ever hear of one being filed. Ken Bailey returned to Canada. The snow-makers cleared away the PVC. Told to dispose of the Bailey Ball, they rolled it into the woods, where it remained for many years."

I don't know that this beats the teeth story, but it's pretty great.

#my mother thought sponge bob's laugh was annoying #that was that; she let me watch it sometimes but I didn't care very deeply about the show or anything and there were other cartoons #and documentaries #so it wasn't ever a big deal

Injury Update: Gen X Edition

OK, my primary doctor couldn't figure out exactly what happened to my leg. He recommended I see an orthopedic doc.

But, before I left my primary doctor said if the cane was helping me keep my balance and stuff, I should keep using it. And if I was going to be using a cane, I thought I should get one that aligned with my personal aesthetic...

Anyway, the orthopedic doc said it was likely a big sprain or a small tear in one of the muscles in my calf. And since it's gradually felt better over the weekend, he recommended simple physical therapy.

Good news overall. But, I warned my wife I will continue to sport the cane even after I'm all healed.

#that's a beuty!#there is a little bit more to proper cane usage but I'm sure the othopedic doc will know better then me #I'm happy to have helped

#viscera #striking #adrift #striking and adrift is a rare combo; even tho the art here is not all that unique #the self portrait description really makes it #they're wonderfull peaces; very visceral #They made me feel similar to how some Beksiński #'s peaces made me feel #maybe a little stronger even due to the composition; it's very punchy #I especially like the middle one second from top #and the bottom middle was the most revulting at first glace; really well executed; love the colours there #Even tho or maybe even becouse of the lack of eyes I feel intensly stared at when viewing theese #I also like how the head cavity can be interpreted as it's own kind of eye #I am assuming that's intentional and I'm not reading too much into it

Here in the great cosmic mistake we call western civilization, vast swaths of ppl are utterly convinced that terrible misfortune either only happened in the past or only happens in other places. This is an article of faith which supercedes the evidence of their own eyes and ears. I dunno what to do with these people. Trying to talk to them about current events that are currently eventing right in front of them is like trying to talk to a cartoon elf from a tv show for babies. They're like "[thing that was literally on the fucking news a day ago] could never, ever happen here in Happyland where bad things never happen, and talking about it makes me sad. Why do you want to make people sad? :( Nobody's sad in Happyland. :)"
