The abandon corridor on the 4th floor of the ministry was dimly lit, the only sound was the distant hum of the elevator and the frantic beat of Harry’s own heart. They were barely able to slip away, voices still echoing in the distance, when Draco shoved Harry against the cool stone wall. One hand braced against the wall to Harry’s left while the other pressed firmly over Harry’s mouth. A muffled, involuntary whimper escaped against Draco’s palm

“Quiet,” Draco hissed, voice hot against Harry’s cheek. Harry’s breath stuttered against Draco’s hand. Before he could even register it, Draco leaned in close. “Make one sound and we’re dead.”

From up close, Harry could see Draco’s eyes; Pale, icy silver starlight edged with something deeper. The eyes that were once cold and cutting, burned with something raw and intense. This wasn’t his Malfoy. The man who found him bleeding, and drenched behind the ruins of Diagon Alley now looked at him like a ghost. Because in this world Harry Potter was supposed to be dead. Voldemort had won and began his rein over the wizarding world.

Yet here he was. Alive and so full of fire and fight, breathing rapidly against Draco’s skin and so utterly present that Draco couldn’t look away.

OOOOH!! i mean i have a few… (im sure there’s already fics of these i just haven’t found them yet):

- forced proximity/shared bed: harry and Draco are sent on an under cover Auror mission outside of town. When they check in they realize there’s only one bed, neither wants to admit discomfort. How long until they can’t ignore the tension anymore?

- polyjuice mishap: they accidentally get stuck looking like each other for a week and find out way too much about each other or after accidentally turning himself into Draco at work, Harry goes into hiding trying to reverse the spell before anyone notices. Days turn into weeks, and the potion still won’t wear off. Whats worse is the ministry has sent Draco Malfoy himself to find out about Harry’s whereabouts and he has yet to find a solution.

- professor x student: harry is forced to finish his last year at school in order to keep his position at work. Little does he know one of his professors is none other than Draco Malfoy.

- Truth serum/forced proximity: harry and draco are forced to work together to test dangerous potions. One accidentally acts as a truth serum/attraction enhancer. They’re locked in a room until sunrise.

- Omegaverse: all his life Harry has presented as a beta. During an Auror mission gone wrong, Harry suddenly presents as an omega. Though rare for someone to present so late in life it is not impossible. While harry struggles to stay composed, alpha!Draco is forced to fight against desire and duty as the only one who can help him through it.

- Forced proximity/Bonded: during an Auror mission gone wrong, a spell links harry and draco‘s life force together. They can’t be apart without experiencing excruciating pain. While being forced to eat, sleep, and live near each other they are forced to ignore how intimate it feels.

- Religion/confession: After the war, Draco disappears and becomes a priest trying to atone for his sins. Though he doesn’t truly believe in it, he finds peace in the quiet routine until one day a man enters his confessional to unburden guilt about the people he’s lost. As the conversations deepen, Draco begins to recognize the voice—it’s Harry Potter. Keeping his identity hidden, Draco plays the part and listens day after day as Harry returns, sometimes to confess, sometimes just to talk. But when Harry admits he’s been yearning for a man from his past, Draco’s jealousy grows—until he realizes Harry is describing him. (Bonus if Draco twists the scripture to lure harry into revealing more)

- Drinking: Harry and Draco are at a ministry banquet. One of them is a light weight and the other is forced to help them not embarrass themselves in front of everyone there. (If harry is drunk: Harry ends up confessing truths he’ll regret. “I used to dream about you, y’know. Punching you. Sometimes kissing you. Confusing times.”) (If Draco is drunk: Draco‘s entire sharp tongue, cold demeanor is replaced by someone open, carefree and even laughing at ridiculous jokes. His posture softens, his hair keeps falling into his eyes, and when Harry tries to fix it for him, Draco only grins and leans into the touch like it’s the most natural thing in the world. “Oh how exhausting it is pretending not to like you, potter”)

- Dark obsession: Draco has become the perfect man: effortlessly charming, dangerously intelligent, and irritatingly perfect. Even Ron and Hermione admit he’s changed for the better. Harry, trying to be open-minded, starts spending time with him for work and social events. What Harry doesn’t know is Draco’s reformation was carefully curated for him. Every mannerism, every compliment, every look was designed to disarm and reel him in. Harry just thinks Draco’s being civil…
