Wedding planning is often seen as a pursuit best left to the bride. After all, the last thing a future groom wants is the ire of his beloved when he comes home with the wrong flowers! But, I don’t want to scare you unduly, as there are loads of things you can do. 

Plenty of guys have contributed to their weddings over the years. There is a lot that the groom can do that isn’t stepping on his bride’s toes. I think it’s important for the grooms to be involved in some capacity in the planning, and these ideas should help with that.

Plan the Rehearsal Dinner

Something the groom can take charge of is the rehearsal dinner. Not all weddings have a rehearsal dinner, but if you’re having one, it matters. Planning it and getting everything right is so important. The great thing about the rehearsal dinners is that people are relaxed and excited.

This is the trial run for the big day, and you need to make sure you get it right. I suggest you focus on the essential parts of the day and what this entails. Come up with an action plan to make sure everything goes smoothly. Planning a rehearsal is important but needs to be fun. 

Sort Out the Photographer

Another thing you have to get right is sorting out the photographer. You need someone who is going to capture the important moments of your day. Think about what is available to help with your decision. Research to find the best wedding photographer on the market.  

Securing the right professional to snap your wedding day is essential. You have to make the right choice here, and this means doing research. Decide on the style of photography you feel best suits your tastes. I also definitely recommend looking at a portfolio in advance. 

Deal with the Music

Music is an essential component of any wedding, and this is something you can sort out. There are some amazing elements to consider, and this is your chance to shine. I always think the band/DJ dilemma is such a difficult one, so why not go with both?!

I would advise speaking with your dearly beloved about this first. But, it can often work out that doubling up on the music gets you the best outcome. There are so many factors to keep in mind, and choosing the style of music is a big one. 

Select the Venue

Another thing grooms can look at getting sorted is selecting the venue. Understandably, a lot of brides want to take charge of this. But, I don’t see any reason why the groom shouldn’t be spearheading this as an idea. It shows you’re assertive and organised.

As you can see, there’s plenty you can do here. Most guys are filled with dread at the idea of planning a wedding in any capacity. But I think it’s good to take charge of some parts of the big day yourself. 

Make sure you consider these ideas and think about what you can contribute. Being able to plan some elements takes the stress off your bride. And I’d wager this is music to the ears of all grooms everywhere!
