One thing I like is wings, and imagine giving them to the brothers I like? That just makes it even better!!
But I like thinking about how difficult it would actually be, because imagine growing wings on beings that have shells? The wings wouldn’t just magically appear out of nowhere like in a fairy tale — BUFF!! suddenly wings with no pain at all. No, wings have bones and muscles, and they would have to force their way from the inside out!
Realistically, it would already be hellishly painful if this happened to humans, now imagine it happening to beings with shells. Those wings would need to break through things just to come out and function properly.
New bones forcing space open, the spine and shoulders deforming to fit this new structure, ribs creaking, shells cracking open, back muscles literally tearing apart from the inside out.
It would definitely be a traumatic mutation.
But each of them would suffer differently, some less than others.
Mikey and Leo would have it easier. They would still feel pain, but much less compared to the other two.
Mikey’s wings would be smaller, meaning less had to push through and the process would be faster. There’s no way opening a shell wouldn’t hurt, but the cracks would be smaller and there would be less skeletal damage.
Leo’s wings would definitely be bigger than Mikey’s, medium-sized wings capable of supporting his weight, but he would suffer a bit more than Mikey — maybe even more on a sensory level too.
But Donnie and Raph? I’m sure both of them would suffer A LOT — just in different ways!
Donnie wouldn’t have wings as large as Leo’s because he doesn’t weigh nearly as much. Leo’s shell still adds a lot of weight, while Donnie’s softer shell doesn’t. And honestly, that would help him a lot.
Because his shell is soft, thinner, and much more flexible, he would have the least difficulty out of the four when it came to the wings breaking through the shell.
But Donnie feels physical stimuli very intensely, so even though he would suffer less physical destruction, he would probably feel the pain the worst. Too many different and wrong sensations all at once because of the wings.
His wings would probably be the first to fully emerge because the shell offers less resistance, and the process would feel more like tearing than breaking. Since his shell is soft — more like skin than a hard shell — he wouldn’t end up with cracks afterward, just scars left by the cuts the wings made while emerging.
Now Raph? He would suffer the MOST physically. The wings would have an insanely hard time breaking through his thick shell. It would be an absolute nightmare battle just for the wings to force their way out.
And for a turtle as large and heavy as him, the wings would need to be ENORMOUS to support his body.
The wings would be massive, and they would leave behind two huge cracks in his shell just to emerge. It would severely damage the shell’s structure, and there would definitely be A LOT of blood from the cracks because of how much bodily damage was caused.
He would be the last one to fully grow his wings, and he would probably pass out at first from all the effort and energy it took for them to finally emerge.
And honestly, I even think the wings themselves would be damaged from the process of forcing through such a hard shell.
