guy currently hurtling toward a migraine at a rate that would impress most astrophysicists: i wonder wgat is happening in my beautiful telephone
i hate the concept of a "noncompliance" in medicine. says absolutely scathing things about the medical and psych industry that a patient not consenting is seen as a problem to push through and a problem with the patient themself rather than someone exercising their right to informed consent that SHOULD BE FUCKING RESPECTED.
When I say personality disorders are ridiculously stigmatized by medical professionals, I mean it. Since having my BPD diagnosis removed from my chart I’ve noticed a big shift from medical professionals. Like, I’d been advocating for years about my chronic pain, but no one was willing to look into it. And now suddenly, after BPD no longer being my diagnosis, I mention my pain to my doctor, and she suddenly jumps into action, scheduling a pain assessment and getting ready to refer me to a specialist clinic. It’s so eerie how many doors open as soon as I didn’t have that specific label. The funny thing is, my symptoms haven’t changed. I’m still just as moody and traumatized as ever, yet I’m being treated with so much more respect now that it’s off my chart. Shoutout to my homies with personality disorders. Y’all do not deserve this bullshit from doctors.

i am once again making a silly little zine abt covid safety but this time it is very unserious and not educational at all so if ur new here and dont know what the Heck i am on about. here's a place to start!
id:
slide 1:
a photo of the front cover of a black & white printed zine held up in front of a quilt in the background. top text of the zine cover reads: "reasons I love wearing my mask in public" with bottom text in parentheses: "besides the on-fire garbage can that is public health these days." a cartoon drawing of Maria, a pale genderfluid person with a buzzcut and glasses, is winking and doing a peace sign. she is wearing a boat-style mask with a star mask chain and crayon earrings.
slide 2:
top text: "1: I haven't had a man tell me to smile in 6 years." Below is a drawing of Maria walking down the sidewalk wearing a black mask, a cat cropped t-shirt, patched jeans, & star earrings. They are carrying a Mitski tote bag and look unbothered with their eyes closed as a man who looks a lot like the distracted boyfriend meme holds up a finger as if he was about to speak, but just looks confused as his speech bubble reads "..." Bottom text: "I simply cannot go back."
slide 3:
Top text: "2: I don't have to make facial expressions." Below Maria is waving and wearing a polo shirt, blank face emoji earrings, & an apron that says "JOB" with a name tag attached. Maria stares blankly behind her mask. Bottom text: "autism wins!"
slide 4:
Top text: "3: I can sing to myself on walks without being spotted by traffic." Below is Maria strolling down the sidewalk with cars in the background, wearing a mask, a baseball cap, and a Phantom of the Opera t-shirt. Maria has a speech bubble of floaty text singing "aangel of muuusic" with music notes floating around.
slide 5:
Top text: "4: mask chains!" below is a boat-style mask with a mask chain made of letter beads that spell "yippee." Bottom text: "another layer of accessory-maxxing."
slide 6:
Top text: "5: adds to my aura of being the mysterious and unknowable coworker." Below Maria stands in their job apron with a black mask & mushroom earrings surrounded by question marks. Text around Maria reads "what do they look like??" "we are literally on the clock!!" "wouldn't you like to know weatherboy!!"
slide 7:
Top text: "6: nobody knows I'm eating fruit snacks." Below is Maria with her mask on wearing strawberry earrings looking nonchalant as text points to her saying "maria acting normal." In the bottom left corner we see through the mask like an x-ray showing Maria chewing as she holds a scooby-doo gummy. Text pointing to this drawing reads "the REAL maria."
slide 8:
Back cover of the zine shows Maria shrugging wearing a striped shirt, overalls with a heart patch on the front, and worm earrings. Top text: "of course none of these things are more important than keeping you & your community safe from preventable illnesses but if for some wild reason you don't care about that. this is everything the government doesn't want you to know!!" Below is the instagram logo and Maria's handle: @maria.therese.art

The soon to transition Mrs Nice Guy: No more Mr Nice Guy
Mark Rothko, Four Darks in Red, 1958
happy one year anniversary to the time i was in vermont in a dorm with a carbon monoxide leak and jacked off to this painting
it’s such a basic part of the reality of disabled people as a whole but it’s STILL so hard to get ppl to understand that some people will simply die without 24/7 care. their care is not for comfort, it’s not for fun, it’s literally a matter of life and death. “if their care was taken away i’m sure they’d learn to suck it up like the rest of us!” – something ive heard time and time again. no they wouldn’t, they would die. they HAVE died. they continue to die as cuts are made to welfare and health. why is this so impossible for people to grasp.
they should breed dogs that bark at 1/5th volume and with a deep and soothing resonance that calms the nervous system

Biggest fuck-up ever is that people have to pay to become doctors
Like unironically we should be subsidising at least 50% of their educations. What do you mean we have a shortage of doctors we should have surplus. What do you mean they’re being overworked they should be treated like royalty, they can fix human bodies
I don’t care if some of them are only doing it for the money. I don’t care if all of them are only doing it for the money. Intentions don’t matter to the stitches in my nana’s leg or the ten billion other lifesaving treatments we all get at a detriment to their finances and mental wellbeing. Entire cities are kept alive by just a couple thousand of them what are we DOINGGGGG
If we had more, maybe it would be easier to get the shitty ones fucking replaced. The board isn't going to do much to the only endocrinologist in the state who takes Medicaid, you know? But if there were more than, idk, maybe 5? Maybe then?
More importantly if you needed less money and less physical stamina to become a doctor, people with less money and less physical stamina could become doctors, which would increase diversity and improve patient care.
You know how you solve rural doctor shortages? Health Department builds a house attached (metaphorically) to the clinic. It's what, seven years to become a Doctor? "Contract to work in this rural community for seven years after you qualify, and we cover all your tuition. Pay's not as good as you'd get going private or working in the big city, but we'll throw in the house as long as you work at this clinic."
Ideally, by the time the contract is up, they've put down some roots and are quite happy not having rent or a mortgage.
And if not, that's what the next graduating class is for.
So, I see's your point, Prev. The issue is that the deal has to be one that's attractive to young graduates. Longer terms might not do that. Like I said, ideally, by the end of the term, they've set down roots, and would prefer to stay in the community. That's why things like including the housing on top of a reasonable salary, to make it more attractive.
*unable to ask if you want to get food with me* do you have any plans for what happens if you get hungry?
i have edibles and the strain promises a "chill" high so on the back there's an asterisk that says "chill has not been evaluated by the FDA" and i think it's only funny because they're not trying to be cutsey. it's in really small print in the middle of all the other warnings.
Whatttt is with the tendency of Tumblr users to seek absolution from every single person who offhandedly posts about disagreeing with something they do
I say this not unkindly, but firmly: to function as a member of a social species, you have to get comfortable with the idea that not everyone will like you
on the topic of ableism towards low vision people in disabled spaces:
needing glasses does not mean you’re blind or visually impaired. in fact, if your vision is completely corrected by glasses you are explicitly excluded from the definition.
i am visually impaired and i wear glasses. my glasses help my vision but they don’t fix things like my lack of depth perception, nystagmus, and low night vision. if you have 20/20 vision with you glasses on that is by definition not a visual impairment. you may be nearsighted or farsighted, so say that, don’t appropriate terms for disabilities you don’t have even if you feel like it fits. there is a reason that needing glasses is not counted as blindness if it perfectly corrects your vision.

if you are going to need some kind of sedative for 4th of july fireworks for your pets NOW IS THE TIME TO SCHEDULE THOSE APPOINTMENTS TO ASK FOR THEM
NOT WHEN ITS 2 DAYS AWAY
I feel like to really get this circulating as it should, we need it superimposed over the picture of the turkey going in the fridge. (I can't do it I'm on my phone.)
With the 250th anniversary it's likely to be especially bad this year!
Be normal about self-inflicted scars.
Self-harm scars.
Dermatillomania scars.
Acne scars.
Bald spots, whether it's on the head or eyelashes or wherever.
Failed body modifications.
While I'm at it, be normal about scars. All scars.
You would see someone who went through such pain and your reaction is disgust or condescend? Did you think that through?
People with scars are not disgusting. Not disturbing. Not deserving of a body horror trigger or gore warning. Not your villains or horror movie monsters. Self-inflicted scars are not disgusting or pitiable. People with scars are people who went through something awful and came out the other side alive.
