"During Napoleon’s voyage to Saint Helena, sailors aboard the Northumberland caught a massive shark and dragged it onto the deck. Curiosity getting the better of him, Napoleon came too close to the monstrous and dangerous fish and narrowly escaped serious injury. Afterward, he nicknamed Admiral Cockburn, who was responsible for taking him to this remote volcanic island 1,200 miles off the west coast of Africa, "the shark." Although the admiral treated the former emperor politely and even altered course at his request so he could see Pico del Teide in Tenerife from the sea, the two were not on good terms."
