The Wheel Turns

For those who still remain

For those who mourn in silence

Dishonored, broken, blamed

Laid low by a life of suffering

That the gilded halls did keep

Let rest befall the sinners

And may all the weary sleep

I wrote some short poems for a cosmic version of norse myth! The gods as ancient celestial beings, carving their stories across the galaxy

Surtr

Sky piercer, star forger

A thousand voices scream

Fire flaming, eye gazing

Destroyer of all things

Odin

High watcher, realm walker

Keeper of graves and lies

The mad king cackles and calls,

The raven’s feast is nigh

Jormungandr

The vast monster, hidden

Lurking, coiled, curled

He swirls and swims, with fierce fangs

He swallows all the world

Yggdrasil

The World Tree, all branching

It’s roots dig deep and wide

Gallows gloom, the hangman’s hymn

For all the worlds shall die

Tyr

Oath taker, kin saver

Guardian of the wall

Unarmed, save for a sword

The stars shall never fall

I dream of death

Lying in a shallow grave in the cool dark earth

The forest is still and silent

The rooted trees, eternal and cold, embrace me in their arms

All that I am, all that I was, is what they will be
