Well hello there. Â Itâs been a while. Â
I am living in NYC (Brooklyn) now, and there are so may things to say. Â Itâs like a different country up here and the differences deserve hi-lighting. Â So hereâs my list of observations, rants and just general tidbits of advice.Â
1. Â Food delivery. Â Any food, anytime, anywhere. Â Seriously. Â ANYWHERE.
2. Â Stopping in the middle of the sidewalk. Â Just donât. Â Itâs about as logical as stopping your car in the middle of the highway. Â
3. Â Advance planning. Â Decide your whole day and pack accordingly because you wonât be returning home until time for bed. Â (Oh, and youâll be carrying it all in your bag. Â All day long).Â
4. Fashion Shmashion. Â Unless youâre in the fashion industry, Â youâre likely mostly concerned about getting from point A to point B in the most comfortable shoes/outfit possible. Â (Think formal wear and tennis shoes. Â For reals.)
5. Â You can easily spend 50% of your paycheck on food. Â Really. Â Â Â
6. Â Iceless water. Â Why is ice so hard to come by in these parts? Â
7. The subway station. Â Itâs hella hot in the summertime and sometimes your train doesnât come for 30 minutes and the back sweat just keeps accumulating.Â
8. Â Earbuds. Â You havenât arrived as a New Yorker until you have your earbuds.
9. Â Tote bags. Â And no, Iâm not talking about the cute ones you buy at the department store. Â Iâm talking about the ones that come as a gift (remember, you also got that cheap water bottle?) for that 5k you ran [ahem, walked] in. Â Yes, those. Â Theyâre everywhere, and theyâre in. Â So get one. Â
10. Â Outsourcing. Â You can hire someone to do just about anything. Â I mean it. Â ANYTHING. Â (Iâve heard of people hiring someone just to come wash their dishes.) Â
Iâm certain there are more incredibly insightful observations to come as I continue this life in the Big Apple.Â
To be continued...Â
